Two months ago yesterday, the season started at Edgbaston. (Actually, it didn't because it rained all day). After 5 CC games, 6 RLODC games (2 unfortunately washed out), 1 game v the mighty Aussies, which player has impressed most?

The one positive that can be taken from this season, so far, are the improvements to certain players. I would suggest they are Wiese, Briggs, Robinson and Finch. So, an all-rounder, spinner, seamer and batsman. A nice quartet then and a possible film title. I note Luke Wright is not on the list which says volumes about his recent Sussex seasons. Luke is presently enjoying a Dorset holiday with his family in a mobile home; whilst, his Twitter page continues to have a header of himself standing amidst the Melbourne Stars cricketers, even though he doesn't play for the 'Big Bash' team anymore.

Most improved players are Wiese, Briggs, Robinson and Finch. Biggest disappointments have been Wells and Wright. Beer promised a lot and then got injured.. Salt, Burgess ,Brown and Evans have all had their moments, although too few. Archer and Jordan seen too little of them to make a comment. Gillespie, to be fair to him, he took over a very poor team, the fact that 4 players have shown a considerable improvement, I would like to think is down to him in some way. Luke Wright remains the biggest problem. Does he really want to play in all formats of the game, or is he only interested in 20/20? Think if Van Zyl was fit, Wright would be dropped. Luke Wells is the most frustrating player on the team. Believe he should give up any idea of playing 50/50 or 20/20 and concentrate on 4 day cricket only.

This year it seems to me that Wiese has hit the ground running and is switched on to the English game. Previous seasons it seemed to me that he has taken a while to adjust after playing abroad (from uk) and has improved later (at times too late) in the season.
That's my thought when I'm bored on an night shift anyhow!

Damn it, coming third right now and was really gunning for an early lead. I think I fell foul of the question - I thought someone else meant anyone else. I had Mo Salah in mind.

I wonder if this poll were to be re-run if Wiese would still have such a commanding lead? The events of the last 4 weeks have seen Archer, Finch, Salt and Haines all make impressive contributions to more than one match, whilst Briggs and Robinson have been consistent contributors. And Brown has continued to make good scores and has benefited from the accuracy of his pace bowlers and held onto most of the catches offered to him.

David Wiese's impressive 100 at Edgbaston in the first game and regular haul of wickets are beginning to fade from the memory as others have performed well. To be fair to David, his opportunities have reduced as he has moved down pecking order with the return of Jordan and Archer and the improved performances by batsmen. I think you have a point, though, others are jostling for that position.
