Three wins on the trot in the County Championship with three wins out of four in the T20 clearly mean that Sussex are on a good run. After the impressive display in the County Championship against Glamorgan, Sussex now face a run of 10 T20 games in 22 days as they bid for qualification to the latter stages.
A defeat to Surrey in the last T20 game brought Sussex back down to earth after three wins on the road. Sussex continue their travels as they head to Canterbury. Kent are currently top of the Southern section with three wins and one defeat but have played one more game than Sussex. The point gained in a no result game was fortuitous as Surrey had scored a massive 250 before the rain intervened.
Kent have been involved in three close T20 games with two wins and one defeat by less than ten runs. Their only defeat was a narrow defeat to Gloucestershire. Sam Billings and Heino Kuhn have both scored 151 runs in 4 innings for Kent while Joe Denly and Carlos Braithwaite have picked up 9 wickets albeit at 9 or more runs per over.
Recent results between Kent and Sussex have gone in each team’s favour although last season few will forget the tied match at Hove in a rain affected game. In the return at Canterbury last season, Sussex successfully chased 163 to win by 5 wickets thanks partly to 73 not out from Chris Nash and three wickets for Chris Jordan.
A fourth win would put Sussex in a strong position in the table after five games. Can Sussex follow up their impressive County Championship with yet another T20 away win? We will see.

The Kent squad for this evening is: 7 Sam Billings (c/wk), 23 Daniel Bell-Drummond, 10 Alex Blake, 6 Joe Denly, 58 Sean Dickson, 25 Calum Haggett, 4 Heino Kuhn, 20 Adam Milne, 1 Harry Podmore, 11 Imran Qayyum, 17 Marcus Stoinis, 5 Ivan Thomas, 8 Mitch Claydon.
I'd expect Podmore & Thomas to miss out, unless there are injuries or the weather (heavy thunderstorms ARE forecast) causes them to pick only one spinner (Denly) and leave Qayyum out.
Last Friday at Canterbury the weather had the last word...it may well happen again, sadly....

I see this as quite a pivotal game in terms of qualification assuming the weather doesn't ruin it. Four wins and one defeat from five games puts us in a very strong position. It doesn't guarantee qualification, of course, but would mean that if the rest of the campaign is average, we will qualify comfortably. However, three wins and two defeats is not much above average and could mean we are back in the pack next week. A good game to win, I would say. However, it might be one point apiece if the thunderstorms move in.

I don't know how many Sussex supporters braved the dire weather forecasts to travel to Canterbury - well done to those who did , but sadly the forecasts were just about 100% spot on.
Living only 20 miles away, I drove to Canterbury after 5pm in boiling conditions (31.5C...). By the time the game started at 7pm, clouds were gathering. After less than 12 overs the lightening had started, the wind had got up and rain was on its way (play stopped because of the lightening, it rained 10 mins later).
We saw an excellent 50 from Denly (who became Kent's highest runscorer in T20 history during it) - we also saw a truly astonishing catch by Rashid Khan (Bell Drummond hooked Jordan's first ball, Khan ran in from deep midwicket, seemed to misjudge it, dived, maybe slipped, then stuck out his right hand and caught it inches above the ground. ) He later got Denly stumped by Burgess having lured him down the wicket and beaten him. Khan looked pretty good - the best of the bowlers on the night, along with Briggs. When I got back to the car (soaking wet) - it was 18.5C...what a change!
Was 1 point each actually fair? Who knows. I'd have backed Kent, at 99-2 in 11.2 overs, to get 200+, but it is probably how large the '+' was which would actually have determined the result. Shame we'll never know how it would have turned out!
