It was a disappointing end to, arguably, Sussex’s best T20 batting performance of the season as they reached a 20 over score in 13 overs before the weather intervened last night at The Oval.
The triangle of games between Kent, Surrey and Sussex, which were all curtailed by weather, may have a big influence on the final T20 table. First of all, Surrey scored a massive 250 at Canterbury before a storm moved in to save Kent. Then, Sussex were struggling at Canterbury, although fighting back, as a deluge came and last night Sussex looked on course for a winning score at The Oval until a storm hit London. Of course, we will never if these games would have ended as expected, but if Sussex fail to qualify by one point or on run rate, many will look back on last night as a turning point.
Tonight, Kent come to Hove hoping to be the fourth consecutive winners at Hove this year. A win against the third placed visitors will put Sussex level on points with Kent, but a loss will make qualification for the knock out phase difficult to say the least.
Kent were on a good run in the T20 Blast until Gloucestershire beat them by 8 wickets in their last game.
Billings, Denly and Kuhn have scored the bulk of their runs while Milne and Denly have taken the most wickets.
Every game seems to be a must win game at the moment but with six teams battling for four places, it is likely to go to the wire. Can Sussex repeat their efforts at The Oval? Or, will the Home struggles continue? We will see.

Once again, the weather forecast is awful. How frustrating is this?!

Absolutely tipping down on the South Coast as I write. Each year the T20 seems to become ever more of a lottery, but 'if' Sussex don't qualify for the QFs, then not being able to win at home is their downfall. The remaining four matches including tonight are 3 home and 1 away.

Realistically we need to win the final 3 games to have any chance of progressing. We’ll probably also need other results to go our way.
Somerset beating Surrey and Hants beating Glamorgan tonight would help!

Bizarrely, Sunday becomes one of the most important days in the T20 calendar for Sussex without actually playing. Sussex will be hoping for Gloucestershire to maintain their form and beat Surrey and Middlesex to find some form and beat Kent. It wouldn't do any harm if Glamorgan lose to Somerset, so that Glamorgan are under a bit more pressure when they come to Hove on Tuesday. Although we all know that it will pour down on Tuesday.
If Sussex were to beat Glamorgan and the three results on Sunday went our way, we would be level on points with Kent and one point behind Glamorgan with a game in hand on Glamorgan. If you think those four results will come true, then a £10 bet could bring you £170. Somehow, I think the bookmakers might be right.
