Given the conditions not a terrible outcome though a lead of 50-100 was doable and would have been nice.
Don't think pitches like this are good for championship cricket. Let's hope they are skittled before conditions improve.

I wasn't at the game today, but judging from the scorecard, it was not one our best day of the season. I'm hoping that we don't have to chase much more than 250 and that the track is getting easier, but others who were present may be able to enlighten. It would be a disappointing game to lose and only collect 3 points.
Whilst the professionals always say that they only concentrate on their own game (I've never believed that!), they must be casting an eye on the Warwickshire and Kent scores. Warwickshire look set for maximum points, while we have to hope that Derbyshire can play out a draw against Kent.
But, there's a long way to go. September is packed with 4 more games where weather, luck, weather, weather and good form will all make a difference.

Malan was very lucky today, clearly knicked one behind when on 18 to archer who was visibly aggrieved- furthermore looked lbw to archer again just before tea - this would look a very different game now if these decisions had gone out way

Good figures for Ollie Robinson again and for Jofra Archer. Including the Loughborough game Robinson has now passed 50 wickets and is fulfilling the potential he showed 3 years ago, and has replaced Magoffin as the go to man for length and line.
Now to get 231.

Salt Wells Haines Finch Wright Brown Archer Jordan Robinson Briggs Beer Surprised that Burgess should have been completely dropped, though his form has tailed off recently, I think the club should have faith in him. And Wright has done very little to inspire confidence in his strengths as an anchor of the batting this year.
Beer for Wiese? Surely not.
5 balls, 0 runs. He's out of form or out of luck, and not contributing what we need. Burgess or Rawlins would arguably have done better than this, and could not have done worse.

It looks like this is going to be like the Kent defeat - a low-scoring game where the opposition ground out just enough runs. Our inexperienced batting is not good enough when the going is tough. The amazing run of results had to end some time.

We have lost this because we batted poorly.

67 effing extras!!
The game would have been won if we hadn’t gifted them 67 runs, we lost by 55!

Just got home from Lords. Terrible batting. Not one of top order batsmen applied themselves whereas Holden and Malan did. Robinson and Archer who were fantastic must be very angry

I am glad the Forum are picking up on the Club 'elephant in the room'.
Sussex Extras: 67 over two innings Middlesex Extras: 21 over two innings
A difference of 46 runs. Sussex lost by 55 runs. What a mighty close match it was then!
The most embarrassing aspect for the Sussex bowlers was the fact that 24 of those 67 runs given away were no-balls and this is a team who are seriously vying for promotion this season.
I have no idea what the Sussex bowling coaches are up to at present, but sorting out and stopping those no-balls must surely be a top priority.

Finally an admission by Gillespie that "if we're being honest we probably gave away too many extras....these are some things we need to be better at"
