Great news - we have shown another increase in posts and views in August - and, I would say, some good content on interesting and varied topics.
When posting, please try to post on the right thread. If you wish to post about a specific match, please use the relevant match thread in the Sussex Matches category - there is one for every game. If you are discussing a specific player, please try to find that player in the Players category. General comments about cricket or non-Sussex stuff should go under General Cricket Chat or Other Matches and Tournaments.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions!

Where's the dislike button? Post what you want, where you want, when you want. And be grateful for the attention on what is a quiet MB compared to past ones. Bunch a commies, go do Corbyn's laces up before the little ***** falls flat on his weedy little face.
Have a great weekend.

Have to agree, the more rules you make the less people are likely to post.
In all honestly the few regular posters on here could just arrange to meet down the pub.

The plan is to grow this messageboard. Page views and posts are about 50% up on last season. This year is a stepping stone insofar that the forum is partially integrated with the new www.from-the-sea-end.co.uk website. Most of the new traffic is coming from this source. Next year the Twitter account will be more active and hopefully increase traffic further. For this reason, I think it is good to keep threads coherent otherwise coming for the first time is likely to be bamboozling to newcomers. Having a separate thread and separate category for each match has helped to increase activity IMHO. I fully accept that sometimes a post will end up on the wrong thread as topics are bound to overlap. If a topic takes off on the wrong thread, I usually move it to the relevant place. To answer the comment “what you want, where you want, when you want”, post what you like as long as it is expressed in a civilised manner, post with at least some logic and post anytime day or night.

Does anyone like chicken noodle soup? I like chicken noodle soup but it's quite salty so I never add salt to my chicken noodle soup. If I had to say what my favourite thing about chicken noodle soup is I'd say it's the noodles. Or maybe the chicken. I love chicken noodle soup.

However, I think you'll attract more attention (and more readers) if you start a chicken noodle soup thread.

On Saturdays, I tend to check forum activity on my phone rather than my laptop. Consequently, I missed a disagreement that took place yesterday on a thread, which boiled over. I don't have any problem with differing opinions - they are an important part of forums - but the rules of this forum are quite clear. Namely, posts should not be unnecessarily aggressive, contain insults to other members or be unsuitable for anyone of any age to read. By all means, stand by your opinions, but please do it respectfully. Considering that there is no cricket at the moment, traffic on this forum has kept up well so far this summer, let's keep discussions going and not make it an unattractive place for people to give their thoughts.
Thank you longstop

How about a new category on the topic of obituaries? A chance to pay respects on a designated thread. Help increase the traffic on the board.

How about a new category on the topic of obituaries? A chance to pay respects on a designated thread. Help increase the traffic on the board. Thank you for idea, tiptoes. I am not sure why a cricket-related obituaries cannot appear under the General Cricket Chat category and any non-cricketing obituaries appear in the Off Topic area. As far as I am aware, they would still have the same Google search ranking and, therefore, not affect traffic on the board.
