I am at a complete loss as to why they have signed him on a two year contract.

Equally surprised that Andre Adams has signed for Hants, he said he was retiring

I am at a complete loss as to why they have signed him on a two year contract. Young (23) former England under 19 player, highly rated all rounder, competing with the very excellent Overton twins. Batting now at blackstone...go and have a look at him if you don't understand or have you seen a lot of him already.? building a a squad involves recruiting talented youngsters, especially if you don't have enough. Somerset seem to have plenty.

I saw Burke playing for Devon in the Minor Counties one-day final against Oxfordshire last week, and he seemed a decent prospect. He batted at three, and was top scorer. His bowling is not as quick as Jamie Overton's, and he got biffed around a bit by Chad Keegan, but he looked useful.

I cannot see him breaking into the Surrey first eleven ahead of Tom Curran, Aneesh Kapil or Jack Winslade.
At Somerset he was competing against Craig Overton, Lewis Gregory and Craig Meschede.

An interesting development, Surrey have released Winslade and Edwards but have managed to hook them up with MCC Young Cricketers, where they can monitor their progress. So they have got them off the wage bill but surely, were they to progress, they'd have no preferential treatment if they wanted another go at county cricket
