Congrats George Dobell on your scoop. Well, well, well ! When George Dobell published this minor scoop some time back, it was met in certain quarters with some degree of scepticism (or did this merely become a convenient vehicle for having a pop at GD). Really wish that l could find the actual post(s) that appeared on this forum at that time, but unfortunately l am totally relying on rather vague memory. Anyway, l join Wicked Cricket in congratulating George Dobell on his original exclusive scoop. Keep up the good work George and more power to your keyboard. Footnote: When l joined this forum a few years back, the rather bizarre sport of George Dobell bashing seemed quite prevalent at that time. l could never quite fathom out the actual reasoning behind this (unless he had somehow offended Sussex supporters with a rather disparaging article in the distant past). |

IIRC, this was down to a prolific ex poster, who lost no opportunity to use this forum as an outlet for venting his personal feelings against GD. I believe there had been some professional falling out between them back in the day. The problem was that when any of us stuck up for GD, we also tended to become targets! It's all bygone history, but since you asked. . .  |

Yes, I remember it well. The said prolific poster had a fall out with Dobell over an article he wrote about Monty Panesar where it was suggested he charged money for autographs? Having said that Dobell can be a spiky character at best and when two similar spikies clash then it can lead to a super-Cacti fight-off!  |
