Aside from the devastating financial blow that we won't be staging a tourist match against Aussies or New Zealand was the announcement that we could be staging outground cricket again at Eastbourne alongside Horsham and Arundel.
Eastbourne was originally stripped as an outground because of the pitch but this much improved as shown by their ranking of 4th out of 40 in SCL pitch and outfield markings with a rating of 17.72 out of 20. Whether because a reality depends on the facilities and gaining sponsorship. Gaining sponsorship is also likely to be the key for Horsham which only went ahead this year because of the very generous donation by an anonymous benefactor. Arundel this year was disappointing mainly because of the very placid pitch which produced extremely turgid cricket. Whilst Sussex like it because it brings plenty of revenue in the form of picking it has to be said the facilities for members are akin to something from the dark age and are woefully inadequate. There is a suggestion that the players don't think the facilities are up to scratch. Arundel cricket don't seem to be bending over backwards to try and retain the festival.
