While cricket continues to f*** around horse racing is allowing is allowed two owners per horse to enter the racecourse from Wednesday. This is presumably within the current social distancing rules?

Not really but we now have a definite date to work towards. My guess would be Sussex will bring back players for training in stages, fast bowlers first etc, that way they can keep some of them on furlough for a little while longer. Meanwhile the ECB will be live streaming the England 3 day warm-up match starting on Wednesday. At last some live cricket!

I've just read this, and it looks very disciplined re social distancing. Not sure how you were implying that cricket should be in step with these procedures?

Poor Leicester - they're really going through it at the moment. Ironically, I had originally planned to be watching Sussex play at Leicester next week.
BTW, on the subject of cricket post 1 August; I still think it would be financially more sensible to play 50 over cricket in August, and T20 in September (or vice versa). I can't see 4 day matches being commercially viable, behind closed doors. Cricket needs every penny it can get at the moment.

How about this story for a touch of "County to County" luv! Share and share alike, why not? But how will the players carry out their 'Bio-Secure Bubble' act? Will they drive to and from their homes each day? Perhaps, this explains it. A temperature test and questionnaire will be filled in before leaving the house, before another temperature is taken by physio James Clegg on arrival – with a ‘one skin, one ball’ policy to avoid cross-contamination between players.
The squad will be equally split into four groups of six and will train independently of each other under one of coaches Adi Birrell, Alfonso Thomas, Tony Middleton and Jimmy Adams. “There won’t be any cross over within the groups so if someone was to get the virus then we could lockdown that group and the rest could continue,” White said. What a 'to-do' given that only 0.75% of people aged under 40 years-old have died from the virus and where nine in ten cases of these deaths, the people have had an underlying health condition. Indeed, it truly is insane. As there is currently no vaccine, we have to work on there not being one. It is actually better if a substantial number of healthy people contract the virus and develop antibodies.

Perhaps this "substantial number of healthy people" could form their own bubble, so they don't infect the rest of the population! Why do so many healthy people seem willing to risk the lives of those less healthy? What's a few more avoidable deaths between friends?!

Impressive figures for Ollie Robinson today, I watched a bit of the live stream and he had the ball on a string. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him in the Test squad with Jofra and a decent replacement for Anderson when he finally retires.

A significant number of jobs and businesses are at risk in the aftermath of the covid-19 coronavirus lockdown, a Brighton University academic has warned.
And the risk looks to be pronounced in shopping and hospitality – two of the mainstays of the local economy in Brighton and Hove.
AIRLINE staff fear they will be “left on the scrapheap” over job loss plans. The firm has said hundreds of jobs will be axed. Gatwick GMB branch secretary Nick Hallett said: “My colleagues and I are totally devastated by what they are planning to do to us. “Many of us have given our whole working lives to BA and now it’s like they want to throw us on the scrap heap.” He added: “I have had countless colleagues contact me who are suffering from serious mental health issues because of what’s happening."
THREE Brighton restaurants are shutting as the company which owns the chain goes into administration.
Casual Dining Group, which owns Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas has said it plans to cut 1,909 jobs after calling in administrators.
It is closing 91 of its 250 restaurants across the UK, including all three of its Bella Italia restaurants in Brighton.
"... without additional support from the Government we have no choice but to make the difficult but necessary decision to restructure and are currently in a process of consultation with employees."
The future of two East Sussex hotels is under threat after the owner of Shearings, the coach holidays provider, crashed into administration.
A popular seafront venue has announced it has gone into voluntary liquidation.

After Johnson provided more mixed messages than usual during the course of the day, he's now announced that recreational cricket will be allowed back from 11 July - subject to safeguards to be published in a few days.

Jofra in the 13 man Test squad, Robinson in the reserves who will stay in Southampton. Surprising omissions are Mo Ali and Jonny Bairstow who aren’t even in the reserves.
