We were informed he had signed to play all forms. Now told he has decided to concentrate on white ball. Think this just looks like poor management to allow him to dictate like this when short of numbers and would like to know why management agreed

Because they don't care about four day cricket, presumably. I agree with you, he was all forms if necessary, well now it's necessary, so make it happen. And Wright.

Just been mentioned on sky sports that he’s rumoured to be going back to Essex - would make sense with getting Hudson-prentice back

Halllelujah! We need cricketers who can play in all three formats if we are ever going to be competitive in championship and 50 over cricket. We haven't won the T20 since 2009. Is RTD retiring?

Didn’t see that coming, lots of talk of him going back to Essex.
Getting on a bit now but can probably do a job for us for a couple off years.

Great to see Ravi is staying. When in-form he is a joy to watch. Like Mills, will he be paid on a game-by-game basis?
This allows the club greater financial flexibility to monitor a players’ form or worse if injured.

Too inconsistent, poor captain, and not really a Sussex man. Done well this year to his credit, but good riddance.

Certainly not a Captain. His ethnic background may help him in the media world. Meanwhile, how are Sussex going to replace him? Hopefully, a strong signing will follow.

Understandable decision given his age but it will leave a big gap … batsman, bowler, captain and senior figure in an inexperienced team. We’re unlikely to find a like for like replacement so a variety of players will need to step up.

In two minds about this one. I suspect he wasn’t a great guy to have around, was expensive and not a great leader. But his bowling got us out of trouble many times this season, and there were several crucial innings. I doubt we will get a replacement who will contribute as much. If we did, that would be standing still only. BTW Typical Bopara that he showed his best form just ahead of his contract renewal decision.

I might be wrong but didn't Farbrace say he wanted players who played all three formats?

I might be wrong but didn't Farbrace say he wanted players who played all three formats? CP I believe he did. This is a brave and good decision from Farbrace. We will miss Bopara's bowling and batting; all teams would. But he is no team player, a poor captain and very likely expensive. Where does this leave Mills? In a post match interview he as good as said he wants to be part of a winning team; in other words let me go. He may regret that. Other teams might think he is past his best; and he is always prone to injury. Also it seems that Garton is as good as gone. Hip injury? He has to be one of the unluckiest players.
