Scott Lenham, Tom Hinley, Daniel Ibrahim, Alastair Orr and Ed Taylor are batsmen. Ollie Carter is a keeper. Archie Drew and Joe Sarro are seamers. Bertie Foreman, Archie Lenham and Joe Pocklington are spinners.

I'm not 100% sure what his current situation is.

I have just realised I have missed off James Coles (although technically speaking doesn't he belong to Oxfordshire)? If not he will obviously be selected.

Looking at the stats from last season’s limited development programme, no batsman really made a strong enough case for a contract. While it really wasn’t really a large enough sample size, we did actually sign three of the bowlers at the end of that truncated season. We are in desperate need of some batsmen coming coming through, and although Coles and Muyeye show promise, they are very young, and there is not much on offer from the older group. Does anyone on here have an opinion on who might be the most likely batting candidates for a place on the staff? We really need 2 or 3 batsmen to bring the squad up to strength, and if nobody is ready to step up from the academy, then we have to look outside. The big problem here is, there doesn’t seem to anyone better than those we released. Wells and Evans have arguably gone to bigger, or more ambitious clubs, and Finch who hasn’t yet got fixed up, looks better than any of the others who are available. What was the idea when Sussex decided to release them? I thought there must have been a plan of succession in place, but it appears not. Very worrying

Are we just being more prudent or are our finances worse than the rest?

To save money as Sussex are set to make a seven figure loss. Why are we the only county releasing first team players? Are we just being more prudent or are our finances worse than the rest? It’s been going on for a while now, pre Covid, a lack of investment in the championship squad Now we have an excuse. If Sussex, with little or no debt, cannot compete with the likes of Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire etc, then commercially they’re doing something wrong. Northamptonshire for example made a large profit from non cricketing activities, whereas our non cricket related commercial activities are poor Why?

I also suspect those counties playing budgets are still well below ours.

Ask S&F, he thinks Andrew is doing a good job - baring in mind Andrew is solely focused on making money for the club and only cares about T20. And our Champ squad compared to out T20 squad proves it.
