www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9283981/NHS-carers-remote-island-home-means-faces-Britains-toughest-commute.htmlA 30 minute hike by moonlight, rowing across a tidal channel, then a 65 mile drive. I used to have a round trip of 84 miles driving to and from my job in Horsham from Eastbourne, compounded by Labour's policy of increasing the fuel escalator way above inflation (try doing that journey by train). I subsequently worked with a bloke who had made the daily journey from Eastbourne to Guildford. My youngest daughter worked with a woman who travelled from Dover to Eastbourne each day. Heard from somebody else who went the other way from Eastbourne to Portsmouth. Bear in mind the roads in Sussex like the A27 are some of the worst in the country. Been told of Met Police officers who travel by train from Eastbourne to London, 90 minutes, which hasn't improved in 100 years, followed by an underground journey, so 2.5 hours all in.
