Carson maybe, no cheats. It's a shocking squad really, even after Head turns up. Just on numbers, it's shocking. As things stand we have no room at all for injuries to batsmen. What do we do if we lose just one batsmen in the first few weeks? It's crazy. I actually hope it happens so these jokers in charge face a harsh reality. Unacceptable. As is keeping an old has-been from Australia who is a blatant cheat. Do you think slagging off Claydon personally and as a cricketer in every post actually does any good? 🤔 What's doing good got to do with me? Cheats shouldn't be welcome, especially at a club with a very iffy recent track record with cheats. We don't seem to care. Bewildering. I would also ask serious questions of Brown and Gillespie regarding the cheat Claydon. But Sussex would rather sweep it under. |

Claydon still has a 2 game ban to complete this season so he won’t play the Lancs or Glamorgan games.

With no Salt, Robinson or Meaker there is a chance for Atkins, Carson, Crocombe and Lenham to stake a claim for a first team place against Lancashire.

Originally the idea was for Head to play in all formats. Surely then he would be our replacement for Evans? I thought we had Rashid Khan and David Wiese as our two overseas T20 players but maybe I’m mistaken We have yes. |

As is keeping an old has-been from Australia who is a blatant cheat. Been saying our batting is getting weaker and weaker for a while. Losing Finch, Wells and Evans leave us very depleted, and although Van Zyl and Head will be available, even with both of them in the side we will only be left with Clark as cover....and he’ll presumably have to play in the early games till Head arrives so as you say, one injury - then what? |

For me the club has completely disregarded 4 day cricket over 4/5 seasons.
Signings across all formats reflect that in abundance.
If we want to bemoan a lack of squad depth and players released (Evans,Briggs,Wells) that should all be in the 4day side then take aim at Gillespie, Greenfield and Andrew not Mitch.
Give the younger players a chance but they need more experience around them.
Bottom of CC and One Day cup tables, t20 qfinal.

It started with the bizarre decision to inform Luke Wright that he wouldn’t be getting much championship game time. He was at the time, one of our better four day batsman. So which of the youngsters were keeping him out of the side? Where are those youngsters? We then sign Bopara, maybe to cover our mistake, but despite being signed for all formats, he appears not to have an interest in playing four day cricket. We’ve now decided to let, probably our best 2020 batsman, Evans, leave for Surrey. Bizarre. All this might make sense, if we had a group of young batting talents pushing for opportunities. We only have one player, Clark, who could be considered an option. |

Usually so excited this time of year for start of season. Not this season. Given up membership as only interested in 4 day and Sussex show no interest in this. Weakest side I can remember with so many never performed at club level let alone 2nd team. All for giving young players a chance but would help them if playing with experienced players. I havent studied other teams but we may get by because I fear standard in general will drop because other sides also may not give 4 day game any importance.
I will keep my fingers cross and will make an appearance when its warmer. Have seen most of youngsters and my tip for top is Scott Lenham when playing for Eastbournewho looked outstanding

In and around the bottom of the pile in the championship. A 12 point penalty shouldn’t be difficult to overcome, but our squad lacks depth, especially in the batting. Am I right in thinking that Head won’t arrive until late April, so may miss the first three or four games? If so, are we going to sign a replacement, as other counties have, to cover for their late arrivals? The 50 over competition? We will be decimated by the 100, so more failure here I fear. It’s the 20-20 where I feel we will have the best chance of success |

There doesn't seem to be any noise about a replacement for Head arriving for the first three or four games though. |
