As posted by Inner Circle; Ed Joyce CB Fry Ranjitsinhji Murray Goodwin Imran Khan James Langridge Matt Prior Maurice Tate John Snow Mushtaq Ahmed Ian Thomson
Can any other county afford to omit 3 respected post war England captains? No Javid Miandad or Keppler Wessels? What a precocious talent the latter was after Geoff Greenidge.

No Greenfield? Very harsh.
Grizz has to be skipper, as the only captain who won a championship (3 weren't it?) Get rid of one of the dinosaurs they've put in.

Shepherd (Capt) Fry Goodwin Ranji Javed Greig Parks Imran Tate Snow Mushy I think the Inner Circle based the team purely on performances for Sussex rather than England or reputation, and as was pointed out recently on another thread Greig's county performance was ordinary. Surely Ted Dexter before Greigy as you've got the all rounder berth covered by Imran. Dexter was a useful bowler too.

Grizz has to be Skipper in any best Sussex XI. Transformed the club like no other. Build him a statue

Greigy could also ball spin and his enthusiasm and leading from the front and setting an example would make a perfect vice captain to Shepherd.
From memory Dexterβs CC record for Sussex wasnβt exactly outstanding.
In a one day team, I would have Dexter in the team and captain.

I was thinking it is probably impossible to get a Sussex XI who were born in the county but never represented us. This is in contrast to Yorkshire where many Tykes had to ply their trade outside the county. The only 2 players I could think of were Mark Benson (Shoreham) and Bobby Parks (Cuckfield).
