Being sent on an 'anger management course' by the ECB, as part of his punishment.
Will Jimmy Anderson be sitting at the desk alongside him? And Ben Stokes on his other side? And given his furious confrontation with opposition players in the outfield as they came off for tea earlier this season, will Mark Robinson be occupying the desk in front of Gale in the ECB's detention class?
Did Jonathan Trott get sent on an anger management course when he tried to thump the s*** out of Wahab Riaz in the nets at Lord's? Or Matt Prior when he smashed a window in the Lord's dressing room? Or Andrew Strauss when he called Pieteren a c*** on air?
One cannot condone what Gale apparently said. But it is hard to escape the conclusion that he is being used to show how tough the ECB are on this kind of poor behaviour because he isn't and never will be an England player.
And by definition the anger management course will fail, either way. If it works,an emasculated, lily-livered Gale with his feistiness removed will never be the same player again. If it doesn't work...well, then the whole thing was a waste of time and nothing more than an ECB PR exercise.
