Heard from a source close to the management that Middlesex are in financial trouble with thousands of pounds owing to pension funds and 3/4 senior players playing out their contracts to the end of this season without renewal.
Steven Finn reported to be in talks with Sussex.

All players offered a one year contract extension in March Gubbins, Eskinazi, Simpson, Harris, Sowter, Finn, Murtagh.
I don't know if any of those deals have subsequently improved.
Steven Finn still hasn't had a benefit. That will probably convince him to stay, although he is now being sidelined in the championship (only played two games out of eight so far) so that Bamber and Cullen can get experience.
I think Gubbins will be the one most sought after, and the one most likely to leave.

Nick Gubbins played club cricket for Stirlands, so I don't know if he still has friends and family in that neck of the woods.
Would be quite a coup if Sussex got his signature, but Surrey a more likely destination.
Leg spinner Sowter, displaced by Hollman and Walallawita also likely to be looking to move
And, if anyone will have him, Eskinazi too.
Murtagh too old to be looking to move, so will either accept new deal, or announce his retirement.

Finn's absence is entirely predictable ...

Does Finn get back in?
I think that rhymed. And I don't think he does.

Best of luck to Finny in his retirement, hopefully he can become our next bowling coach!
Never quite saw the best of him but you cant fault his efforts.

Fair play to him, if I am correct I believe he still had another year left on his contract, which he would no doubt have been well within his rights to have expected to be honoured.
No we didn't see the best of him, not his fault, it was a gamble of a signing that didn't pay off.
Reading the report on the BBC website, it is easy to forgot what an exceptional talent he was and how much he achieved in the game.
Good luck to him for the future. My guess is a career in broadcasting and media awaits.

He was reported to have been distraught after his latest return from injury ended in disappointment. It’s a real shame we didn’t see the best of him, and he didn’t get to end on a high.

And so closes another inglorious chapter in Sussex bowling recruitment history. Not that I blame Steve Finn who deserves a happy retirement from playing the game. (Sarcasm alert) Thank goodness we’ve learned from our mistake of repeatedly recruiting bowlers at the tail end of their career.

I wish Finn a happy retirement.
Blame lies with those recruiting the players not the players themselves.

I was not calling for them to give an injury prone seamer in his thirties a three year contract. Seamers in their thirties should be getting one year max.

Unless it's perfect they cant seem to get anything right - the impossible challenge.
