The weather and Covid seemed to have blown Sussex's strong start in the T20 Blast off course. After three wins in the first three games, Sussex have lost two and had five washouts from the last seven games. After looking comfortably placed a few weeks ago, Sussex now need to get back to winning ways after slipping out of the top four. An impressive run rate from the early games, arguably worth another point, has been decimated by two hefty defeats to Gloucestershire and Middlesex.
Tonight's opponents, Glamorgan, have had their own problems with Covid in the camp. Other than exciting one run win over Surrey on Tuesday, Glamorgan have lost three of their other four more recent games, including a heavy defeat against Essex on Thursday when they were bowled out for 104.
Marnus Labushagne was in good form until he was sidelined due to the Covid outbreak. He has scored 294 runs in the T20 Blast in his six innings. Glamorgan's form has been patchy and unpredictable, sometimes scoring decent totals, other times crumbling for low scores. The bowlers have also had mixed seasons, containing some teams and conceded over 200 on others.
It's a hard game to call even though Sussex won the home and away T20 games comfortably when they last met in 2018 and 2019. Sussex will be wanting to post a decent score after two poor performances. Can Sussex get back on track? We are just going to have to wait and see, I guess.
