It's all part of the strategy to get people to turn up and pay.

Sussex did really well to claw the score back to 146. Looking like 180 at one stage. A very gettable total if the batsmen perform.
Eek!!

Our talisman out first ball. Brilliant catch though. Oh dear, oh dear! π«

Travis Head walking off, needs to keep walking back to Australia. Has to be one of the worst signings ever for Sussex.

Send Head back to Australia and Wiese back to South Africa,
Essex made a huge mistake bowling Plom a third over rather than Nijaar. Bringing on Nijaar when they did just compounded the error. Very poor captaincy by Harmer. Essex seamers didn't have one brain sell between them! It was a good pitch for seamers if you bowled the right length. Bopara and Rawlins took full advantage of wayward Essex bowling.

That was JUST GREAT! Delray finally became the show pony with pony in tow and Bopara is the most sublime batsman when on form.
Fantastic evening. π₯π

Great win, didn't really see what happened with the run out but thank god Delray turned up as it was looking bad when he came to the wicket

Finally. Credit where it is due. Well done Delray. Bopara showed all his years of class. Sussex did really well to contain Essex; and then chased it down very well. Head and Wiese disappointing.
Come on Sussex, a home quarter final would be great.

Big result. That victory is the difference between looking likely to qualify and struggling to qualify.
It was a strange game. Our bowling, aside from Ollie Robinson, was a patchy, our fielding and catching was good and our batting performed just in time. Until Westley departed, I thought we were facing 170 or so; too many, I feared. When Luke Wright was out first ball, I muttered that we had lost. I thought I was right when the fourth wicket fell. I still didnβt feel any confidence until one of too many poor overs from the Essex seamers around over 15 and some clumsy fielding managed to undo Harmerβs impressive work.
Things happened just fell the right way for us at crucial times tonight, but it wasnβt a convincing win and the cracks due to absences and inadequacies are there to see. In truth, it was a fine margin between winning and losing.

randall,
Ward was at fault.
There was a straight-forward third run which Bopara took, but Ward had his back turned. Big mistake. Always keep an eye on your team mate.
Hopefully, he has learned a lesson.
Re: Bopara, he is a class above the rest when on form, but he needs something to stoke his fire. Against your old team, what more stoking do you need. If Sussex played Essex every game, Ravi would probably score 1,000 runs a season.
He is such a joy to watch. Even his running between wickets is done with such nonchalant ease. On three occasions, he goaded an Essex fielder to knock the stumps down, and twice this happened and two additional runs were gained after the bails went flying.
Perhaps, only Pietersen had the same self-assurance and confidence as Ravi has when playing well. Sublime personified.

Yeah, everyone likes a show-pony who performs once in every 20 games. Needs to up that ratio and be one of those good show-ponies, like Pietersen. That goes for Rawlins too.
Back on track then, despite the significant hurdles. We have a very deep squad now, thanks to kidnapping children at the school gates. Who says crime doesn't pay.
Ward's made a contribution or two. I think he was on the brink on being gone, presuming he's the same Ward we got from Jersey or Oxford or somewhere?
