Very nasty business for which nobody has ever been caught.
But young teenagers being at an all night party is a bit off. Pity the poor neighbours trying to get some shut eye that night. I used to work with a chap at RSA who was at school in Penge with one of the deceased and there were racial overtones then as most of the school pupils ignored some edict to observe a mark of respect as he was loathed by a majority.
I, myself don't have good memories of that area of Lewisham from 1977 when crossing paths with Millwall supporters after a THFC game at Crystal Palace at New X Gate stn when I was lucky to get out alive and then the Boxing Day Game when those baskets bricked us on the OKR after the game.

Does anybody know what this man is talking about? Crossing paths with Millwall after Spurs at Palace at New X on the OKR... What the hell are you talking about nut-man? We don't all play monopoly pal.

You know OKR is on the monopoly board so even if you don't play it...
You can't be that stupid because you didn't need an explanation for RSA acronym. Incidentally I think my former work colleague to whom I alluded was at school with Andrew Gooding.
Despite the hysteria against the establishment by the black community that the inquest didnt find proof the fire was started as a racial act, I can't see enough evidence to deem that it was.

I didn't know what OKR was, bringing up monopoly was a pure coincidence - I can now assume what it is. I didn't bring up RSA cos it was in a different paragraph and I didn't see it - I don't know what it is. South Africa? I still don't know what the story is, I've got London, fire, race, cover-ups and someone called Andrew Gooding.
Oh I get it now, it's about Strictly isn't it?

You didn't realise OKR was on the Monopoly board even though you mentioned Monopoly as most people have only ever heard of OKR through Monopoly. Weird. A bit like someone condemning Ian Botham's adultery as "not cricket" and being unaware Botham was a cricketer.
I take back what I said that you can't be that stupid - you are. Maybe you didn't see that bit because "it was in a different paragraph."

A bit like that. I didn't know OKR was Old Kent Road until you brought up monopoly. Me bringing up monopoly was coincidental and linked to the places I knew were London, like Millwall, Palace... I know they're not actually on a monopoly board.
I read but skipped RSA in my example of not knowing what the hell you were talking about. By the way, I still don't know what the hell you're talking about. I've lost two weeks' sleep over this.
You need to consider your audience better. RLM.

No, he doesn't Joe. He once stole my identity you know - tried to replicate my words but cocked it up by being too nice and reasonable.

My other involvement with New X was when I did my sport and spectator NVQ training in preparation of stewarding at the 2012 Olympics under the auspices of Knights Securities which was held at St Annes Community Hall, also the place of registration. Among the 100 or so stewards I was about the only white guy with all the others being Afrocarribean. It would not surprise me in the slightest if some of them or their parents knew or were related to victims of the infamous fire. One thing worth noting is that 40 years ago our coloured brethren and sisters all had conventional Anglophile names, see here blackhistorystudies.com/resources/resources/the-new-cross-fire/ whereas now they all seemed to be pretty whacky. I remember an Olympian called Phillips Idowu and when I first heard it pronounced I thought it was Philip Sidowu. I recall seeing some crime drama about this white 19 year old pregnant teenage girl getting stabbed and killed by some smackhead and they interviewed her thick (unmarried) parents who lived nearby and clearly had her when they were little more than kids themselves as they looked really young. The family seemed a pretty chavvy bunch who probably didn't have a clue how to hold a knife and fork when eating and the unborn child had already been given the name of Casey-May...
