It was disappointing to lose to Lancashire in the first RLODC game after being in such a strong position, but it was equally pleasing to see so many of our younger players doing so well. The games come thick and fast in this year's 50-over competition. Next up is the visit of Durham.
Durham are having an average season, finishing third in the group stages of the County Championship and 7th in the T20 group stages. However, they started the Royal London Cup in convincing fashion when they beat Kent by 103 runs. Having scored a massive total of 405 for 4, Kent were never in the game despite scoring over 300. In that game, both openers Graham Clark and Alex Lee scored hundreds as they scored 242 for the first wicket. With Cameron Bancroft coming in at number four, Durham powered to an impressive total. When Kent batted, Chris Rushworth took three Kent wickets economically to ensure a comfortable win.
Sussex will be hoping to bounce back after Lancashire's big comeback in the game at Sedbergh on Friday. Can Sussex kickstart their RLODC campaign with a win? I don't see why not.

Durham's top four looks the biggest danger to us. Dismiss them cheaply and we win the game. Fail to do so and we lose the game. Weather permitting of course.
Robinson and Wiese added to the squad.
My XI would be: Orr, Haines (c), Head, Wiese, Carter wk, Coles, Ibrahim, Beer, Robinson, Lenham, Sarro

If the weather is as bad as it is where I live, it will be one point apiece for Sussex and Durham. Long coach journey back for Durham if they don’t play, although, of course, it’s a long coach journey home if they do play as well.
