Sussex go into their fourth game of the RLODC with just a single point after a very narrow defeat against Lancashire, a washout for the Durham game and a heavy defeat against Hampshire at The Ageas. Qualifying for the later rounds looks fairly unlikely, although a win over our neighbours, Kent, could raise hopes.
Kent are struggling in this season's RLODC and have the same record as Sussex going into this game. Their most recent game at Beckenham was abandoned with Lancashire on 71 for 0. In their other two games, they conceded over 400 to Durham to lose by 103 runs and lost to Worcestershire by three wickets as they chased down Kent's 322. The takeaway from those statistics is that Kent are scoring runs well, but are having trouble stopping opponents posting big totals. Most of the runs have come from the bats of George Munsey and Harry Finch with Munsey being in great form scoring 108 and 96. As for wickets, they have been hard for Kent to take having conceded 799 for 11 wickets in their two and a bit games.
It would be good if our young team can get a win under their belt and this game looks winnable. Can Sussex gain their first win? I don't see why not.
Other group games
Middlesex v Hampshire (Friday - Radlett)
Current League Table
Durham P4 5 Pts Lancashire P3 3 Pts Essex P2 4 Pts ** Worcestershire P2 4 Pts Hampshire P2 2 Pts Gloucestershire P3 2 Pts Sussex P3 1 Pt Kent P3 1 Pt Middlesex P2 0 Pts
** Essex game v Worcestershire in progress - Essex look set to lose!

It's correct to say that Kent have a weakened team. The squad travelling to Hove (to watch the rain fall?) is: My guess is that (from the 14) Gordon, Qadri and Gilchrist will miss out.

Good to see Brown in the squad, at least it means he’s still at the club.

Good to see Brown in the squad, at least it means he’s still at the club. He's probably realised that it's not in his interest to sit on the sidelines.

Can't move the covers for health and safety reasons because of the wind. Pathetic. I bet they would be playing in the t20 or the hundred.
Edit: Rob Andrew ceo has had a chat with the groundstaff and now they have come out and doing some work!
Health and safety my a**e!

Good to see Head and Brown in the runs.
Advantage Kent as DLS usually gives the chasing team the advantage. 7.2 runs an over to win.
Sussex: 209-7 (off 29 overs)
Kent: 50-1 (off 5.4 overs)
RAIN STOPS PLAY

No result. One point each.
How many games have we lost to the weather this year?

One point gained as we would need to have had Kent 75-3 after 10 overs to win by 1 run on D/L.

I thought Ben Brown batted very well today. The youngsters can learn a lot from him. Too much expectation on Wiese to always hit boundaries. He was given lots of strike but couldn't do it. Another 50 from Head, then he gets out. Wiese is not an opening bowler. Should have tried spin up front. 1 point a good result for Sussex. Another sh*te weather forecast for Sunday.

Brown batted very well today, found the boundary effectively and looked in great Nick.

Does the team picked today signal the end for Will Beer? Hasn't done much wrong in previous games, but youth comes first.
