Look at this by 17 year old wicketkeeping bat Charlie Tear, 75 for Sussex 2s in only his second game. Plays his club cricket for West Chiltington with Matt Machan.

Excellent. If there's one thing the club should learn over the last year it's that you can chuck these lads in now and then and see how they go - as long as school's finished. They then need to learn that if they don't go so well you still keep them and work with them and give them time rather than judging them on 2 games at 18 or 19. We're producing top young players, bring them in but don't rely on them. It's not rocket biology or marine science. Or whatever.
Get these kids training with the firsts and playing regularly for the twos. I remember shouting from the rooftops for Hatchet to play after he was getting numerous Michelles for the 2s and it still took him ages to get a gig. And Beero, blimey. That's cos we had a proper team that you couldn't just walk in to at play time.

Has gone on short term loan to Gloucestershire. He’s going to play two games for their second team. It’s curious, surely he’d merit a place in our own.

As he’s brobably our 3rd/4th pick wicketkeeper perhaps he wants to move on and this is a trial?

Really hope not. Bad enough losing Ali Orr, but to lose a talented youngster before he's barely got started would be very disappointing. Let's just hope it's because Gloucestershire need a keeper for their 2nds.

Again there seems to be a slight over reaction to this, its a 2 week loan and he will face equal competition for places there. In 3 years he'll likely be backup to Carter or maybe even first choice if his performance warrant it.
I agree the language used on their statement suggests in might be longer term but until anything happens summising would may happen and being disappointed by stuff that hasnt even happened yet.
Heres hoping he scores big runs and forces his way into our team, as i write i check his scores and he got a duck!

One of Gloucestershires young wicketkeepers has had to retire from the game recently due to a heart condition.
Seems to be adding up somewhat?
Meanwhile Tear and Brad Currie have been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming T20 tri-series.

Players coming out of our academy will move on especially as we are the stage in the plan where we will be bringing in more players rather than relying on players coming straight out of the academy into the first team.
