What about Zaidi who is supposed to be our number one all-rounder? And if Stef Piolet isn't going to play white ball cricket then his signing is as pointless as the last Warwickshire reject, Andrew Miller. What is happening with Miller? I heard he was offered a contract by Glamorgan and turned it down, and I could swear I saw him at Hove the other day. If it wasn't him it must have been his identical twin!

Where the hell did I read someone saying this was on Sky - think it was BM? Anyway, not according to my TV guide it ain't - Snotts v Spanks. Interested to see what the team will be, have a nasty feeling Beer may miss out to Zaidi, which would be horrendous. Wonder if CJ is available. If we have a weakness, I think it will be our middle order hitting.

I probably should have looked on the website before posting that : www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/preview-1Strangely, no Lewis. I thought that was the main thing we signed him for - and coaching. Piolet and Zaidi to miss out for me. Do think we lack a bit of batting power, just one man maybe, so shame Prior ain't fit.

Think this is where we'll miss that second OS player. That'd be a decent T20 side with a batter, such as Afridi included

I see, thanks Flash. You're right enough there LM. So what of the order? Presuming Zaidi and Piolet do miss out, although I have a horrid feeling Beer will inexplicably miss out, I say this:
Wright Joyce Machan H-B Nash Yardy Brown CJ Arafat Beer Lids
Don't like Yardy at six really, there's our weakness for me, but bats down to ten, four seam options and three spin.

Here is the Surrey squad. Must get Smith out early. No KP but given his present form he couldn't hit a barn door. Hopefully, Dernbach will offer his recent England form and not the one from last season's home games. Peterson is a late addition. Not sure how he sneaked in. Should be a cracking match. Here's to selling 6,400 pints during the evening. Smith (capt), Burns, Curran, Davies, Dernbach, Dunn, Kapil, O'Brien, Mahmood, Peterson, Roy, Wilson

So Beer does miss out to the hapless Zaidi. It should be unbelievable but somehow I saw it coming. Honestly, what does Beer do wrong?

Well, my first game of the season as last Sunday I chose to watch Brighton on TV and so missed out on the Wright and Brown show, big mistake. Thoroughly enjoyed tonight though, we were never out of it yet never looked like winning, which made winning all the more enjoyable. Would have liked to have seen Beer though.

All ended well, thanks to some last over heroics from Brown and Arafat. Still think we are power batter away from being a side to challenge. We have other bowling options in Lewis, Hatchett, Piolet and Beer but not really too much more in the way of batting. Prior could come in I suppose, but as soon as he's fit enough to play, he'll likely be whisked away by England. Think we need to use our second OS option and bring in a batsman
