My XI would be Wright, Rizwan, Bopara, Rawlins, Hudson-Prentice (batsmen only), Garton, Khan, Beer, Lenham, Finn and Mills.

What about Phillip? He's here for 4 games then Aust A. I don't think Khan will be available. International committments? Will Finn be fit enough? Will Garton manage to last a couple of games before he relapses with long covid effects? Poss Robinson? Why not, he needs the game time to get fit? What about Alsop, he played for Hants last year?
I'm sure Salisbury & Kirtley have a few very average, underwhelming players on the radar ready to step in and raise the the level of performance. After the past years getting to the finals & quarter finals I can't see Sussex being in the least bit competitive this year . Won't be much space on Greenfields/Salisbury/Kirtley/Andrew coffin for a many more nails.

Presuming 'batsman only' is a player, that's 12. We might need 12 cos this is the worst T20 on paper we've had in years. We simply haven't replaced Salt and Jordan. Who was our second OS last year? Rizwan has replaced him.
So ultimately, the management have even f****d the T20 side over now, to go with the Champ. What is Andrew's priority now?
I think we should play our young aggressive homies. Haines is a shot-a-ball man in the champ, so he's in. Both Carter and Orr are boundary hitters, no question. See Orr against the Kiwi spinner.
Haines Wright Rizwan Bopara Orr Carter H-P Khan Garton Lenham Mills
Bopara has been s**t for us. Rawlins for him if he continues to be.

Bopara is captain, so doubt he’ll be dropped.
You’re right, even the much heralded T20 side has started to fall apart. Last season we just about had 11, with some players batting a place or two too high, this season it feels a struggle to get 11 obvious T20 players out there. Yes I know we got to finals day, but the team did feel very light.
Let’s not forget, for anyone championing Rizwan replacing Salt, so Salt not being missed, it’s taken us using an overseas spot to replace him.

I think they are looking at Ward to open with Wrighty.
Khan won’t be available any time soon as his team are through to the knock out stages of the IPL. Not sure whether Seifert or Phillipe will come in as cover?
Mills still has to prove his fitness, he hasn’t bowled since coming back injured from IPL.
If H-P plays as a batter only he’ll have to be replaced in the field, he won’t want to throw himself around with a stress fracture of the back still healing.

Oh, H-P as batter only. I get it now. Why would H-P play as a batter only ahead of Haines, Carter or Orr? They are twice the batsman, H-P is a bowling allrounder, if he ain't fit to bowl he shouldn't play at all. You could say the same about Ward - how is he better than Haines? Even Clark has done much more.
Look at your batting line-up CP then look at mine. You have Rawlins, H-P & Garton at 4,5 & 6. That's crazy. Why do you think that balance is right? I'm astonished at that, it's a terrible batting line-up.

ECB just announced Haines and Robinson have been picked in the County Select XI to play NZ this week.

Presuming 'batsman only' is a player, that's 12. Hudson-Prentice unlikely to be able to bowl this season.

Well he ain't a batter CP, there's 4 or 5 better options.
Joe's side has the right balance at least. Gotta be worried about the bowling attack, yet again. all crocked or out of form or barely taken a wicket.
Good for Haines, some recognition. Think he need to chill a bit, he bats like a T20 player.
