Well batted Tom Alsop. I thought we were heading for another pasting but Alsop has at least given the bowlers a total to defend.

Despite the heroics of Alsop, not sure we have enough on the scoreboard, but at least we have something to defend.
On the subject of Alsop, should have been in from game one. Not being wise after the event, I implied as much in an earlier post.
I know you don't like loanees Liquid, but he is here for the entire season and not a short term panic signing. As such, I am surprised you haven't mentioned him ahead of Clark, Haines and Orr as an alternative to Ward. Plus, if he continues as he is doing, let's get him in permanently.
On the subject of Ward's selection, nothing against the lad who is a youngster at the start of his career, but if as Adrian Harms suggests that Alsop only played in this match because Ward failed a fitness test then that raises serious questions over Kirtley's judgement.
I haven't read one poster on here, who understands Ward's selection and even less the logic of him batting at seven. If we can see something so blatantly obvious, why can't Kirtley?

Well done Sussex. There is some confused thinking though. Alsop should have played all games. Are two leg spinners and Delray needed? Onwards and upwards.

Alsop a late team change did we need some inspiration on and off the pitch and Alsop gave it and because of that late cameo Inspired the bowlers so well done Sussex.

The vagaries of T20!
At 108-5 after 16 overs, I didn't give us a hope. Four overs of Alsop doing his thing, Bell-Drummond first ball and Crawley out cheaply and the whole game changed.
A rare and long overdue win against the current T20 Champions and a strong Kent side.
Let's just all collectively enjoy it and leave any negativity for another day.
Although, if someone can find a way of stopping Adrian Harms constantly banging on about the weather on the live stream every two minutes and just focus on the Cricket, I would be very appreciative ππ.

Well done Sussex. There is some confused thinking though. Alsop should have played all games. Are two leg spinners and Delray needed? Onwards and upwards. Not today. We have a habit of carrying a bowler that bowls an over or none. I'm surprised Gordy ain't on here yet telling us how good we are for beating the champions. Christ knows how they're champions by the way. A pleasant surprise, and well done to the match winner, we may as well have signed him permanently. Anyway, he's in. Get Carter in for Beer and we're maybe getting there. Although yet another OS might confuse things. I know this, from 7 down we're weak and won't score many runs. Need Rawlins at 7 and Garton 8 as Rawlins is looking like a cert for 4 overs. Archie 9, Alsop 4, yada yada yada, maybe Kirtley will finally find the right team, order and balance. If he does, we might be alright again. Let's not let one man's knock paper over the obvious fixable flaws.

Not convinced Kirtley will see it our way though. Clark should be in and around the squad, but leave Haines and Orr for the proper Cricket. Let's see what else Alsop can bring to the party before we offer up that contract, no rush but certainly get a draft version ready to put under his nose at the appropriate time. He certainly looks the part on today's showing!! We just need to remind Bopara that Finn has an allotment of four overs and we may just make a decent go of this competition.

Yes, I think Bopara needs to learn to count. With Garton struggling for form Finn was the obvious pick for 18 and 20 with Mills taking 19.
Conversely I remember last year Garton taking 24 off a Finn over to win us the game.

I concur.
Finn should be the death bowler for the final over. He has both the maturity and experience to deal with the pressure and is our senior seamer. Imagine if Kent had required five less runs, Sussex would have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I don't trust either Garton or Mills.
Poor counting from Bopara yesterday as some suggest. At least we won our first T20 game unlike Kent. Onwards and upwards.
