Another great knock from Ali Orr.
(this post should either be on the 2nd XI thread or the Ali Orr thread)

As he showed against NZ, he can hit big sixes, many of them on one knee. Let me get this straight, has he just hit 89 off 29 then 124 off 66? And he still can't make JK's squad. Unchanged and announced today I think.
I worry about the Sussex management. And I worry about losing great players who will get much better recognition elsewhere. I speak of Haines mainly. I'd like to know how many of the 11 who just played for the England B side against NZ can't get into their county T20 side. I suspect it's zero. And the fact this oversight happened after we lost an opener makes it even more puzzling. Players want that Hundred contract, it's very lucrative and it's a great stage. We better wake up here.

Very good points. I saw Orr in a 50 over game last year and thought he showed enough to be given a go in T20. As for Haines - likewise, plays enough shots in the championship and form on last season’s RLC to suggest he could be in our T20 side.

It's the logic behind the thinking that troubles me. Nothing against Ward, done well the other night but where is the comparison between him and the other two? Volume of runs, standard, form, stature, you name it, there's no comparison. Orr has something that Haines maybe doesn't too, judging by the sixes I'm seeing of both spin and pace. There was the perfect opportunity when we lost Rizwan.

Looks like Ali will be lucky to play again this season, after breaking his finger playing for Eastbourne.

Just posted on Sussex website. Out for an additional 4 weeks. How unlucky is that!
