Emma, Andy and Serena have all made an early exit.
Sue Barker, usually one of the better sports pundits, introduced Serena as "the greatest women's player of all time", although she fails the benchmark for that accolade which is most Grand Slam titles, and while Serena ticks most boxes as a "national treasure" with her only debit entry being some unsporting court behaviour against Naomi Osaki in a GS final a few years back, the greatest woman player is Margaret Court who is much reviled by the right on establishment due to her bravery as a stand up Christian to publicly oppose homosexual marriage which is in keeping with her Biblical faith, but seemingly a crime in official circles such to be airbrushed from tennis history.

Heather Watson gets through to the 4th round! Wonders will never cease.
Emma Raducanu flatters to deceive. Her Grand Slam win less than a year ago looking increasingly a one off. Can she ever get through the early rounds of a major tournament again? Don't hold your breath.

Can she ever get through the early rounds of a major tournament again? Don't hold your breath. I think I heard that Raducanu would be ranked around 60 if she hadn’t won the US Open. Whether she makes too five or not needs time.

At the conclusion of the mens final the first person to shake hands with Duchess of Cambridge was Gerry Armstrong being the Wimbledon referee. Gerry hails from Eastbourne and used to play cricket for Willingdon CC like his towering son, who both also played in goal for Hastings Utd in days gone by. Gerry succeeded Andrew Jarrett in his post, a former British tennis player in the Buster Mottram era, and AJ used to live in Seaford.
