In November Morrisons introduced a free meal comprising a baked potato with baked beans and salad for the over 60s, normally retailing for around £3.50 I would guess. I did have the misfortune to queue up behind some dippy student type who with his irritating request for things like "cheesy chips" completely befuddled the clueless woman on the till who couldn't find the right key, then got stuck again, and when she eventually served me 10 minutes later to tell me my order wouldn't be ready for another hour I nearly exploded.
Skanky Asda tried to get in on the altruistic act with soup, a bread roll and cup of tea/coffee for a £1. Well who wants a tea or coffee when eating a soup and roll? Hardly the best mixture to go down your neck. I went down yesterday and received a small portion of vegetable soup (no tomato available) and 3 slices of grotty white bread with a little pack of butter because they had no bread rolls. Great. I felt cheated of paying a pound for this miserly fare reckoning that Asda would probably make a profit on such meagre outputs. As I got up to leave with my belly still rumbling I thankfully found a pound coin on the floor to assuage my feelings of having been conned.

Doesn't sound any worse than the crap value food served up at the County Ground. Bring back the greasy fry up.
