Carol Vorderman

Countdown ranks among the many boring TV programmes which should have been put out to pasture in the last century, but recall being at a loose end probably channel hopping, and Carol was putting up the letters (in the days before she wore her champagne socialism on both sleeves) and some numpty contestant goes "consonant" R, "vowel" A, "consonant" P, now to avoid awkwardness it would make sense to ask for another consonant but numpty requests vowel and guess what? E...a few sniggers from the geriatric audience but PC Carol is having none of it and stone faced she nods vigorously imploring numpty to quickly move on. But numpty dithers and asks for a consonant and S appears which irritates fast and loose Carol even more as her embarrassment and irritation hits new peaks. Numpty dithers more before asking for the next letter to diffuse the tension and Carol's blood pressure starts to subside.

Can you remember the early days of Countdown when they employed some bimbo to put up the letters? And that was her only role. Incredible.
