Very disappointing, given that was a target that was more than achievable. The required run rate never got out of control, but you can't have the heart of your batting ripped out and still expect to make a successful run chase.
Not sure moving Bopara up to opener was the best move, he may have been a better option in steadying the ship in the middle order after the early loss of wickets. Shadab Khan, I thought was unlucky, but not great shots from Alsop and Burgess. Nice to see Clark get a few runs as I think he has been a little unfortunate in some of his innings thus far this season.
At least due to our last pair we got closer than at one point looked likely. Carter's cameo will no doubt give Farbrace food for thought ahead of team selection for the next match.
I listed on the Surrey thread after the last match those T20 players who have left the club over the past few seasons and how much quality, experience and ability we have lost. Consequently, there are going to be highs and lows and ups and downs with this young inexperienced group, whilst we regroup and rebuild.
Realistically, any improvement on last year's feable T20 campaign will be progress. I am not convinced we are good enough to progress to the quarter final stages in this competition. The focus should in my humble view therefore be on the other competitions, particularly the Championship where promotion is a real possibility given our positive start.

The four youngest players (I think, without checking) almost made a game of that but the eccentric selection/batting lineup didn’t pay off. Why are they so determined never to give Haines an opportunity in this format? The Burgess v Carter debate will doubtless start up again.

A very disappointing result. Farbrace is not happy. His interview is scathing of our batting effort. He is right. As a team we are learning but we should have been able to chase that score down. T20 is brutal and it is very easy to go from hero to zero. Hope we bat better v Hants.

Very very disappointing.
To lose by 25 runs off a small total with the experience we have in the team is criminal. Only needed one of the top 5 (apart from Clark) to value his wicket enough and respect their best bowlers enough and it would have been an easy chase.

This is no different from last year. It's the Kirtley & Salisbury legacy. They killed off the last of Sussex passion last year. Getting rid of the last 2 Sussex boys. Now a bit of a collection with some from Sussex but without the feel, what it means to play for Sussex. Bopara, money grabber. Not the best captain on & off the pitch.
Orr & Alsop have a chance to get runs and might enable a Sussex win. The rest, can't see it. Where's GB Lenham? He's being outbowled by Foreman in the 2nd's. Too much, too early, too soon. IMO
