Hard to know what to make of this one, 37 years old, to me only stunting the development of our younger bowlers.

Agreed. Can he stay fit? Lots of experience in all formats though. Finn hasn't played, so financially maybe a straight swap.

Thinking on it, while it may not be the marquee signing we are looking for, he is very experienced and is likely to be fairly cheap and of course is another body for us to use.

When I read earlier today of the three players leaving Leicestershire at the end of the season after turning down new contracts, it did cross my mind whether any would be heading to Hove.
Out of the three, Wright would have been my least preference, although the most probable of the trio, particularly given the need to strengthen our bowling.
He is no doubt an experienced and consumate professional and has been recruited in an area where we clearly need greater depth. Add to that 27 wickets so far this season at a click under 25 and a strike rate of around 48.
However, I cannot help questioning at 37 years of age have we not learnt from Claydon, Meaker and Finn?
Whilst recent history suggests this is somewhat of a gamble, hopefully, my reservations are unfounded and he stays fit and proves to be a great success.

I’m completely underwhelmed by this signing. He’s 38 next month so with a 2 year deal he’ll be 40! Just another fading pro looking for a pension.
If we are lucky enough to get promoted this year we will be able to attract bigger names and he may be redundant before he starts.

Will only play in CC. 27 wickets @ 25 in 7 games this season suggests he can do a job for Sussex. The only downside is that at 38 did we really need to offer more than 1 year?
With Finn, Atkins and Hunt doing absolutely nothing I think another seamer was needed.

Not the first Wright we’ve signed from Leics but this time it’s a bit underwhelming. Hope he contributes in some way.
There’s obviously trouble at the Foxes. Shame for them, just as they were finally lifting themselves off the floor.

No longer coming to Sussex! Family reasons.

Not sure about that Lab1. Wright's role was clear; get us wickets with the red ball and biff a few 6s. Anything else a bonus. Weird he has decided Sussex is not for him. A chance for Sussex management to be transparent about this. I have a concern about Lamb. 3 year contract and not a lot of red ball experience. Can Lamb, Hudson-Prentice and Ibrahim all play in the same red ball team?
