Worcestershire win at Cheltenham to secure their fourth win of the season and now have a 21 point advantage over Sussex. With home games to come against Glamorgan and Durham and an away game at Yorkshire Sussex probably need at least two wins from the last four matches. Durham away will be tough because they are leaders. Derbyshire away will be tough because they have not had a positive result at Derby all season. Therefore Leicestershire and Gloucestershire looks the best bet. On the basis of the season so far, Worcestershire obviously deserve promotion much more than we do. Unfortunately for them, some of their best players have already signed for other counties next year. They regularly have players picked off, just like the Worcester Warriors suffered in Rugby Union. It’s not as bad as with football, where the wealthiest teams enjoy an entrenched position but I fear it’s heading that way.

Jack Haynes and Josh Tongue who are Nottinghamshire bound and Derbyshire bound Pat Brown didn't play this game. Worcestershire could replace Pennington with an overseas seamer. Rob Jones of lancashire will reple Jack Haynes.

Yes but they’re constantly having to refill a leaky bucket, which as we know from recent experience, makes it very hard to build a winning team.
