Meanwhile back at the cricket in Derby, more rain forecast from mid afternoon so surely even we can’t lose the game from here?!

A friend of a friend told me Garton is off to pastures new. A breakdown in communication with the management was given as the reason. Which is the same problem Salt, Jordan, Wells etc had. I wonder if he’ll have to sign an NDA?

I thought all the flats had been sold. Are we talking about the commercial office space within the apartment block? Little has been sold?
Garton going? Not surprised. The club situation is now far worse than 1996. Sussex is becoming a laughing stock amongst the other 17 counties.

Sussex fielding is about as good as their batting bloody useless

Where's Sean Hunt been all season His 11th over gone for 12. Lost his line and length. Same as Hudson Prentice's last over. So frustrating. Our bowling is very poor.

Where's Sean Hunt been all season He's bowled well this morning I agree Realab, but... One swallow doesn't make a summer. Other than his career best 3-36 at the end of April in very bowler friendly conditions in the second innings against Gloucestershire (after he failed to take a wicket in the first innings), he has done nothing all season. Add in a penchant for a high number of no-balls evidenced in second eleven matches. Season average 8 wickets at 46.63 with a strike rate of 63.7. Career average 16 wickets at 43.16 at a strike rate of 69.2. Never taken more than three wickets in an innings. Nowhere near good enough if we want to create a squad capable of challenging for a Division One place and maintaining that status. I am not having a go at you, because at times I have been just as guilty, but we have got to stop ourselves being seduced into believing a decent bowling spell or a decent innings means we have a player for the future. Farbrace has already indicated the need for ruthlessness and if he sees this through, which I fully expect, then unless players consistently deliver I can't see contracts getting renewed as they have been previously.

Let’s face it until Andrew goes nothing will improve! I wait and hope that day is sooner rather than later.

He's 21 and i think its too easy to forget that with a lot of these lads. Their best may not be for 3 or 4 years yet.

But have we got the finances to be patient and carry them all if we want to build a competitive balanced squad Realab? At some point, decisions need to be taken as to cutting some loose and freeing up space in the squad. Hunt is one example of where 21 or not, can we continue with him and Crocombe, Adkin, Currie? Others may disagree, for me pick your best one or two and release the others. Same with our spinning options and our young batters. We need to rebalance the squad that over the past few seasons has become over reliant on promising youngsters.

There’s not a big list of experienced players waiting for a county to sign them.
