I thought I'd start a thread for this one.
Not going to plan so far for England. Saying that what was their plan for this world cup? Not a fan of both Malan and Root in the top 3 one or the other for me. Ali at 5 is 3 places too high these days. Hopefully they and go and post a defendable score!

Looks empty yes. However there are extenuating circumstances around this specific match due to the incompetence of the BCCI and ICC (the same organisation some say). The schedule changed numerous times, tickets only went on sale a few weeks ago and it's a ridiculously big stadium that sometimes even India don't fill. There's probably a decent crowd there - around 40,000 I reckon - it just looks minuscule as the stadium is insanely big. I'll from now on be signing off every post with 'Andrew out' until he leaves btw. Andrew out.

Haha
Average age of the 11 today is 32 - Far too old and a clear indication test cricket has taken priority (good). You need young fit hungry men in Sub Continental conditions!

The test team is of a similar age. There’s a generation of players that England have stayed very loyal to, in all formats. It’s been hard for younger players to break through. Let’s hope it doesn’t create a cliff edge as they start to retire.

Yes you’d think this may be the last hurrah for a few of those players; Buttler, Stokes, Ali, Livingstone etc

I don’t feel so bad about England losing to Afghanistan now SA has fallen to the Netherlands. Has to be good for the game if the ‘minnows’ can occasionally topple a ‘giant’. It still feels like an inevitable procession towards an Indian victory to me although one lapse in the semi or final will put paid to that.

To state the obvious, England has lots its mojo and rapidly needs to find it. Otherwise we are out given how tight the mid-table is.

Quite some implosion by England in this tournament which few people saw coming. Maybe they can relax a bit and play better cricket now their hopes are practically over.

Reported that Jofra is flying home, he only flew out there on Tuesday! Is he injured again ? Apart from collecting airmiles, seems a pointless few days!!

Sharing a plane back with Topley no doubt who’s broken a finger. It’s only 12 months since he flew back early from another World Cup with an injury. There’s bad luck then there’s Topley.

They could always press Steve Finn into action. He might last for an over or two.
