We are halfway through the County Championship season. Of the 28 CC Division Two games played so far, only 7 have produced a result - yes, a measly 25%. In Division One, it is 17 results from 35 games (almost 50%). Part of the problem is playing so many games in April, of course. However, I wonder if another big factor is that there are some strong teams in Division One that can 'finish off' the weaker teams, whereas there's less difference between the Division Two teams. I don't know what the solution is other than to play more CC games in the summer months.

It was very similar last year and why I reckon that 5 wins will be enough to get us promotion. The only way I can envisage more red ball games in the summer is if the Blast and Hundred were to be merged. It’s what’s needed in my view but I can’t see how to get there. The other option of running the championship alongside the Hundred would reduce the credibility of the championship and further deepen the schism between ‘modernists and traditionalists’.

Another factor to why there are more results in Div 1 could be that they generally have better drainage/covers/equipment.
