So we go into this one at the top of the group.
I can’t see any changes being made unless Clark comes back in if he’s fit.

Trying to select a team and batting order has become quite tricky. I'll leave it to Farbrace and Co with their bigger picture agenda. However, as for results, so far so good. Nothing to fear from Esssex. If we can beat Surrey away in the manner we did, watch out Essex. I do see a good team spirit and ethos in this squad. However it is T20; and as we all know everything can go pear shaped. Hopefully not. It would be fantastic to reach the knockout stage.

For some reason it won’t happen but this side would take some beating:
Ward Hughes Haines Coles Alsop McAndrew Simpson FHP Carson Robinson Mills

So we go into this one at the top of the group. I can’t see any changes being made unless Clark comes back in if he’s fit. I was at the 2nd team game today and Clark was watching but not playing an active part. Most of the first team squad were there watching too. Haines and Ward in great touch!

I would select the following XI: Ward Hughes Haines Coles Alsop Simpson FHP McAndrew Carson Robinson Mills In 10 days time you may be able to replace Carson with Archer in that team and that really would take some beating! A bit short of spin but with Robinson, McAndrew. Mills and Jofra you probably don’t need too much spin!

Same team then as Glos and hope that Carter can contribute

Lamb for Carter otherwise unchanged.
We’ve won the toss and bowl first.

Like I said. All very strange. Lenham should be playing.

Got out of jail there after a woeful first ten overs

It most definitely was, but what a comeback!! Really outstanding last two overs, Carter drop and inside edge aside. Made a very good Essex side look pretty ordinary. I feared we were looking at upward of 200 at one stage. 101-1 after the first ten overs, 77-8 off the last ten. It was inevitable Elgar was going to get a score when he was dropped on nought. Still struggling with the policy of only bowling Carson a solitary over each match. At least we have learnt not to use Lamb in the death overs. Not convinced that is the best use of Robinson either. This will still take some getting. We will need a really good start. Who will have the biggest regret, us for leaving a batter out for a lower order all rounder or Essex for resting Harmer?

Throw medium fast pies at Ward and you’re getting it

When I said we needed a good start, I don't feel it is unreasonable to say that exceeded all expectations.
Ward demonstrating why he should have been in this side from the first match.
