When I said we needed a good start, I don't feel it is unreasonable to say that exceeded all expectations. Ward demonstrating why he should have been in this side from the first match. Maybe they felt they owed Carter as he didn’t get opportunities in red ball. Barmey decision though. Ward is a very good flat track bully.

I would agree yikemardy, but that shouldn't have been a factor in team selection. You should in my humble opinion aways select your best eleven. Giving Carter a role to which he was clearly unsuited did nobody any favours. I have a suspicion there is similar logic around Lamb's selection, albeit more associated with assurances he was given when he was persuaded to sign. I really feel for Carter. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I fully understand why Simpson was signed. The squad needed experience, he is a quality player, consistent batsman and the finished article in terms of his wicketkeeping. But there was always going to be collateral damage and that is Carter. Hopefully, no one will forget some of the excellent innings he has played over the last couple of seasons and that his wicketkeeping was improving. The Sussex management has to acknowledge the part they have played in his current predicament. I very much hope he gets more opportunities down the line in a more suited role and he comes good again.

WOW! Humble pie and all that. I can’t believe what I am seeing. A format and team even the Club itself had written off as the Championship was all-important for the 2024 season, and we are seeing a T20 side brimming with confidence, playing like champions and beating, easily, all and asunder. I am off to Hove tomorrow night. If the weather behaves I could see the Sharks doing the double over Surrey. I keep pinching myself. WOW again.

I doubt you’ll find anyone on here who doesn’t a) like Carter b) rate Carter. He’s had a terrible season so far but he is still a good player, and has done well in the blast before. Anyway - what a crazy run of boundaries that was. We couldn’t lose from that moment on. Sleep well, Surrey Steve.

I’m pinching myself. I’m sure we all are. Even when we had a team of experienced T20 stars we were never as dominant as we have been in the last 3 games.

Wow, absolutely outstanding!!
That for me is the best performance to date. Winning at a stroll against in-form quality opposition in their own backyard. That was a statement performance, even exceeding the Surrey win.
Farbrace has signed an absolute gem in Hughes. Coles continues to produce with both bat and ball. Our three senior seamers produce consistently, indeed contributions throughout.
Hopefully, any doubt or question over Ward's inclusion in the starting line up has now been finally resolved. He hits the ball hard, very hard, in fact probably harder than anyone else in the side. He won't always come off, there will be times he will frustrate, times he will be out cheaply, but there will be times he will produce like tonight and like he did at Taunton a couple of seasons ago.
I still suspect we are a quality batter light, but it doesn't really matter when you smash 86-0 off the powerplay.

Calm down, although I’d agree a win tomorrow and it looks very rosy in the T20 comp. I still think we are fragile. One or two injuries and England wanting Ollie to carry drinks might change things.

And what a pleasure not to have Graham Napier and/or Simon Harmer doing us over for the umpteenth time

Enjoy the moment mate, why look for the negative in the future that may never happen. This is an outstanding victory in whats been recognised on this board as one of the toughest places to go to. We have huge talent exceptionally well coached by a master crafts man. 3 wins probs gets us to the QF's 4 to a home QF. allow your self even for 5 minutes to dream.

Excellent once again and credit to all concerned. Ward takes the plaudits and rightly so but Hughes taking their gun bowler for 30 in an over was key. There was no coming back from that. The flexibility with both the batting order and the bowlers makes it very difficult for the opposition. I always think a pace bowler in 20/20 should bowl his first ball ball at a new batter fast and at the stumps and McAndrew showed the benefit of this when he cleaned up Cox.
