Do we yet know whch part of the world the squad are planning to head to in March?
Planning some late-winter sunshine with the family and if Sussex CCC are headed to the West Indies or South Africa, it might influence our choice of destination.
Hampshire, Northants, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire are in Barbados in March and if Sussex are planning to join them, a week at Sandy Lane with a bit of cricket-watching and some amiable cricketing company thrown in would be grand. But if it's UAE , we shall head elsewhere; ghastly place which I loathed when we saw Pakistan play England there in Jan 2012!

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news BM but Sussex will be in Abu Dhabi for pre-season.
Even I wouldn't need cricket to enjoy Sandy Lane.

Bad luck, borderman, but think of the plus side. Why not stay home and enjoy the English spring, the early awakenings? You are more than welcome to come and help me out on my allotment for a few days in March: plenty of healthy digging to get the blood flowing and the taste of a pint at the end of a chilly morning's raking and planting far exceeds that of a Planter's Punch.

Darn it. Cricketing facilities are good in Dubai but the whole place is like a theme park, antispetic and no soul (and the only place you can get a drink is in the hotel).
Is there a shed on your allotment where we could stay, hh? Your offer sounds most enticing to me but not sure Borderwoman will see it that way. She spent last night on-line researching Nicaragua...

The Sussex squad and itinerary announced here www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/pre-season-sussex-name-squad-for-pre-season-tourGood to see Anyon back amongst the team, but still a little concerning that, according to Steve Hollis in the Argus he "missed a fast bowling camp in Spain last month having undergone surgery on a knee problem which flared up over the winter." Let's hope the antiseptic(©borderman) atmosphere of the Gulf is healing to him.

Sadly Jimmy Anyon looks like missing the first six weeks of the season. Young Tom Hoare has taken his place in the party to Dubai. Is that Tom Hoare, the Aldwick all rounder?

No Ed Joyce, which is fair enough given his recent exertions with Ireland.
On the other hand, it is not quite important to have your captain at the heart of pre-season planning and preparation?

Catching snippets of it.
Unfortunately when I watch these games it is always spoilt by having to endure the leg-side wide rule - surely one the the stupidest, most brainless changes to the game of all time. Why shouldn't you bowl down the leg side?

In other news, your man Matt Hobden just returned a triple wicket maiden.

Aren't we lucky to be able to watch the Sussex v Yorkshire match live. Anyone missing it, here is the link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLVYFMrcIXI&feature=youtu.beI am sorry if I go on about Chris Liddle. He's a lovely guy, recently got married, and is well liked at the club but... Has Chris learnt anything about death bowling? I understand Chris has suffered from 'the yips' in recent years, so great sympathy as this must play havoc with your confidence. But once more Chris bowls too short with little or no variation. His last 'at the death' over sums this up. 3 full tosses, 2 short and only one full length. The runs: 416*12 or 14 runs. Where were the yorkers, slow bouncers and variation in pace? Batsmen have improved so greatly in the OD format that unless the bowling is of the highest guile you become cannon fodder as the England seamers discovered in the World Cup. Even so, Sussex have a chance to win this final. 177 is getable if Wright fires. Congrats to Andrew Hodd for his 79*. Question: Who has developed the most - Ben Brown or Andrew Hodd? And fun to see Craig Cachopa stepping in as wicketkeeper. Very well bowled Matt Hobden - a triple wicket maiden ending with figures of 29-3 and also Finch 29-1. Come on the Sharks!

Disaster! A Keystone Cop moment between Wright and Nash (reminded one of the Goodwin/Yardy days) as Wright is run out on the last ball of the first over.
