Interesting initiative here by Sussex CCC www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/community-come-and-have-a-cuppa-with-sussex-cricket. Although it says "The initiative is aimed at members, supporters and indeed local members of the community, regardless of whether they have an interest in cricket or not" I notice it is in partnership with Friends of the Elderly. One question though, it refers to it being held in the Focus Group Boundary Rooms at Hove. Is this another sneaky rebranding, and why?

Another great idea showing the way we see Sussex Cricket developing our position at the heart of the community. As far as your second point is concerned HHS, I imagine that your original draft was;- " How good to see another company prepared to support Sussex. As as cricket fan I appreciate that this type of partnership enables us to watch top class cricket whilst paying modest sums for admission"

From the tone of your reply it seems that you think I was belittling your initiative. You are wrong. I wanted to know:
What kind of initiative it was - purely for the elderly or for other groups that would beenfit from inclusion?
What was the motivation for the reference to "The Focus Group Boundary Rooms", since that is the first I have heard of this re-titling.
You haven't replied to either point, which is a pity, because you had a wonderful opportunity to give further details of what you are trying to achieve and to advertise whatever kind of partnership it is with whoever the sponsor might be. When I do a search on the Sussex CCC site for "Focus Group Boundary Rooms" this is the only thing that comes up - so that's why I asked, is it a rebranding and what is the purpose?
So, before I subscribe to your redrafting, perhaps you'd like to use this opportunity to expand on your initiative and to introduce your "partner"?

But referred to in the Sussex Cricket in the Community newsletter January Edition as "the Boundary Rooms" - no mention of The Focus Group. Have Sussex ditched them, or was their never any formal renaming? Is their any consistency in the messages the club puts out?

The Focus Group are based in Hove and if they really are Sussex's new "Official Telecoms and Energy Partner", I'd make that good news.
Telecoms, after all, are a pretty useful thing to have around a cricket club if you want to stay in touch with the outside world (apart from mobiles in the Sussex dressing room, which I'd guess must have been banned after what Lou Vincent and Naved Arif got up to with them). Personally I've always found BT perfectly adequate but if the Focus Group can come up with a better deal, I'm definitely open to offers.
"Energy" is also definitely a good thing and you probably can't get enough of it, unless you've got a kid with ADHD. But I have to admit to some ignorance here, because I'm not exactly sure what an "official energy partnter" does - is the CEO going to run on the pitch with cans of Red Bull for the flagging Sussex batsmen? But hey, it sounds great and even if we don't really need the Focus Group's "energy", I'm sure their money will come in useful in return for them being able to headline "SUSSEX CRICKET'S OFFICIAL ENERGY PARTNER" on therir masthead.
That will look great about the blurb that not only says they are "one of the UK’s leading communications service providers" but also that they've "grown organically" (does that mean fresh fruit and veg sans insectidies in the players dining room?) It gets even better, with the news that "our excellence spans across a broad range of products." Whatever their "excellent range of products" may be , they've got to be an improvement on the tat currently on sale in the club shop.
But seriously - am I alone in thinking this is a somewhat underwhelming way to announce the new sponsors of "the Focus Group Boundary Rooms at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground", if that is indeed what they are?
As for Sussex's partnership with "Friends of the Elderly", to an old codger like me that sounds even more groovy. First I've heard of it, but then I have grown a little deaf in my dotage so I probably missed the announcement. Does it extend to the concessionary ticket and membership rates many other counties extend to their elderly friends?
