Pleasantly surprised to wake up to this scoreboard, which seems to resound with I-told-you-sos:
Fit Anderson bowls tightly and exposes poor Indian technique - check Resurgent Finn throws off attempts to change his action and finds real pace - check Diffident Bell told to go out and lead from the front, and does so - check Taylor continues to show that despite three years of being snubbed he is a fluent strokemaker with a fine discernment for the ball to hit - check
Can someone who saw this - and is probably compensating for their lack of sleep now - comment, when they wake up and log on?

Confirms how Cook was holding this team back, too, as better ODI batsmen were consistently left out to accommodate him.
Bell barely featured in the recent one day series v Sri Lanka and Taylor only got in the side when Cook was suspended for a slow over rate.
Jordan apparently unwell and would have played instead of Finn, who has surely now cemented his place with that performance today. Through no fault of his own, CJ becomes fifth choice after Broad, Anderson, Finn and Woakes. Could be the worst of all worlds for everyone next summer - ranked highly enough for Sussex to lose him every time England name an ODI squad, but not high enough to make the starting XI unless another bowler is injured.

The curse of the dibbly-dobbly medium-pacer on the slow pitch, part 294.....and they still keep promoting 50 over cricket as a peak of excellence!

Sourav Ganguly in commentary: "The attendance today is 7653. We have that attendance in Durga Pooja"
I have no idea where Durga Pooja is but it sounds pretty grim, and that level of attendance is a reminder of how overcooked the 50-over International concept has now become.

The Australian commentators on the radio were very pleased with the attendance for a neutral match. I suspect that it is only in England that such matches would get large crowds. Then again I expected a decent crowd for the Pakistan v Australia Test at Headingley the other year but it was very sparse. The attendances for non Australia matches in this World Cup will be very interesting.
