Sadly, after gaining both traction and momentum, the Sussex CCC 'Cricket Memorabilia and Book Fair' will not go ahead this year. A possible date of December 6th was mooted but this clashed with a 'Teddy Bear Fair' in the Boundary Rooms. Then the museum was suggested as the venue, feasibly a far better location, but promoters Jon Filby and Neil Beck were reluctant to move forward. Neil Beck commented, "There was a distinct lack of interest from dealers. We will try again in 2016." And Jon Filby added, "The event will come back bigger and better next year." But what of the Teddy Bears?

Let's chant all the bare necessities but it is this fair which is partly responsible for 'b(e)arring' the 2015 'Cricket Memorabilia and Book Fair' from 'be(ar)falling'. As attempts by Sussex CCC to increase off-field revenue streams continue, fairs is one obvious avenue - especially now the Hove Town Hall has closed to business. The major problem at the ground is easy and close parking. The Town Hall had a multi- storey lying opposite. The concern being that as more and more activities are booked at the ground, the core 'cricket' becomes second best. www.thegreatbrightonteddybearevent.co.uk/The_Great_Brighton_Teddy_Bear_Event/Home.htmlwww.youtube.com/watch?v=5dhSdnDb3tk

According to the flyer, there is "onsite parking for 150 cars" at the ground. I didn't realise there were as many parking places as this?

And 'The Boundary Rooms' is described as "a fabulous corporate suite." Well I guess that's subjective! However, the number of parking spaces needs to be factual.

The Staff Sharks Cricket Trophy Bash
_________________________________________ The Sussex CCC staff held their cricket XI players’ awards ceremony last night and once more the media boys won the top prize with team Captain Adam Matthews taking the trophy away from last year’s winner Tom Rose by being heralded ‘Players Player of the Year’. Staff XIOther awards included the ‘Chris Tavare Services to Batting’; ‘The Agony to Ecstasy’; ‘Phoenix from the Flames’; and ‘Most Improved Player’. It is unclear how good the Staff XI are as they were beaten by the Sussex CCC Ground Staff in their final evening T20 game on September 18th played at the ‘Blackstone Academy’ ground. Although, the team were edged out of the ‘LMS East Sussex’ title by just two points this season by Lewes Priory. Winning the trophy must have greatly cheered Adam whose beloved football team, the ‘Kidderminister Harriers’, have not won a single game this season. He is presently and officially their top fan. KHFC participate in the National League, the fifth tier of English football. Media Officer Adam MatthewsQuestion: Who resides inside the ‘Sid the Shark’ costume? I shall make it my Holy Grail next season. twitter.com/staffsharks

Hurrah! Finally I have received a review copy of the new Chris Adams book. The excuse from ‘Pitch Publishing’ being: The warehouse they use to hold their books is undated as it sends out a plethora of publications from various other publishers due to the impending Christmas rush. Hopefully, I can complete and publish a review early next week. First impressions are very favourable. Meanwhile, Chris is arranging a series of book signing days with local Waterstone bookshops. Follow his twitter for further details. Don't forget his luncheon appearance at the Hove ground on October 28th. twitter.com/grizz598

Are you articulating alliteration's artful aids? And in publishing terms, first impressions can be more than favourable, they can, in time and with rarity, be of value.
