Grizzly bites and makes another veiled bid for Robinson's job: "I still follow Sussex intensely and I am gutted. It has been a while since there have been trophies at Sussex. It is time for an injection of something." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/34413399Is that subtly blatant? or blatantly subtle? or not very subtle at all?

Borderman is absolutely right. Adams brought so much change to our beloved club when he joined as skipper, how he can now be (apparently) ignored is a mystery. He will bring some much needed dynamism and passion. I have nothing against Robinson but now is the time for change.........
I don't think Adams is known for his subtlety or diplomacy. Who cares as long as he gets back in the fold?

Bm, You’re a tease and I won’t be drawn in! My brief penny’s worth is that Mark Robinson is an ‘untouchable’ at the club and will only leave at his own volition. He has an impressive and very accomplished CV, so finding another job won’t be difficult. The two you suggest at Essex and the England Women’s team are tempting for him but, like Adams, his heart lies with Sussex. Talking to supporters at the ‘Players Awards’ night the view is black and white. Some feel the coaching staff require a Spring clean, others said Robinson should be given an opportunity of bouncing Sussex straight back citing the injuries and the fact that 12 times out of the last 16 seasons, 161 points would have been enough to stay up. I am bias towards Adams as I believe he is the right man to offer that club Spring clean but am also aware that others do not agree. I am not the club Chairman. Jim May makes the final decision. If Robinson decides to remain then these would be my ‘Betfair’ odds for the Sussex coach next April. Jon Lewis is my second favourite. Robinson: Evens Lewis: 3-1 Adams: 6-1 Davis: 7-1 Hopkinson: 10-1There are alternatives of course. A special position could be created for Robinson at the Club as the ECB did for Giles Clarke. Perhaps, Director of Sussex Cricket, but then, where would the finance come from? If the money is available, this might allow someone like Jon Lewis to learn from Robinson’s experience and a smooth transition would occur. Unless corporate governance is different on the south coast, I think you'll find it is the chief executive who makes the ultimate call and not the chairman.

Who chooses the Chief Exec? Why is there only one Monopolies Commission?

Who chooses the Chief Exec? Why is there only one Monopolies Commission? Because pure democracy is unworkable?

Who chooses the Chief Exec? Why is there only one Monopolies Commission? To have more would be duplicitous.

I think my most glorious memory of Chris Adams isn't even of him as a cricketer : it was when Sussex won the T20 final. BY then he was already head coach at Surrey, but when Sussex won he ran on to the pitch and jumped up and down with the team and then got buried under them as they all jumped on top of him.
So when he says the name Sussex remains stamped through his being like a stick of Hove rock, I believe him.
Mind you, I recall someone put forward an interesting alternative explanation of his behaviour on that T20 finals day : he had a batch of Surrey contracts in his back pocket and hoped to sign up a few Sussex players in the euphoria of the moment!

I spoke to him just before the final against Somerset and asked him who he thought would win. Sussex, he said without hesitating and a gleam in his eye. Now Joyce has stepped down, it looks like Robbo's here to stay.

Very interesting to look up David Hopps' preview of Sussex's prospects for 2015 on cricinfo. He earmarked Mills and Cachopa as the key players who would would keep Sussex in Div One and bring white ball success. Perhaps we would have been better eschewing such risky imported gambles and putting our faith in homegrown products like Hudson-Prentice and Finch instead? I didn't say so at the time, I readily admit - so I can claim no great insight, only hindsight. But at least one poster on here called it. Take a bow, Fraudster... Hey I'm just a guy with a dream, a guy with a dream about kids (playing cricket for Sussex). But I didn't really call anything, I say the same thing year in year out - produce your own on the whole and fill the gaps with quality outside signings. I strongly believe every county should do that, mainly because it makes the most sense. England produce world class cricketers, those cricketers come from all counties and your Leics, Northants and Glams are no exception. Your grads are cheap, until they're proven, when they're rightly rewarded. And a very important aspect as far as I'm aware, pride. Being particularly proud when one of your own makes it might make you some kind of phobe to some lunatics, but not to me, and I think not to most. As for Mills, I was as happy as most with that one to be fair. I made the same mistake as the Sussex medical team though and didn't give him a thorough medical. I was busy though, that's my excuse, what's theirs? I'm glad many more people are voicing concerns over our youth and homegrown policy, on here at least. People would tare strips off old RFawden on the old board just for suggesting that a 37 year old Murray Goodwin should be dropped for Gatting in the middle of a piss poor season for him. Touchy bunch they were.

Sadly, after gaining both traction and momentum, the Sussex CCC 'Cricket Memorabilia and Book Fair' will not go ahead this year.
A possible date of December 6th was mooted but this clashed with a 'Teddy Bear Fair' in the Boundary Rooms. Then the museum was suggested as the venue, feasibly a far better location, but promoters Jon Filby and Neil Beck were reluctant to move forward.
Neil Beck commented, "There was a distinct lack of interest from dealers. We will try again in 2016." And Jon Filby added, "The event will come back bigger and better next year."
