It has been long discussed of the massive potential to play cricket in the US. While sports like American Football and Baseball dominate the country, cricket has been very much a small backwater. Today, news has come through that an important and historic step has been achieved. Read about it below. www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/969917

This retro appeal was bound to come. I am surprised this approach has not been used in the T20.

Would this not be an ideal job for present Club Honorary Treasurer and Board Director Ed Putnam? He is a keen Sussex supporter, knows all the financial ins and outs of the Club and gets on well with Rob Andrew.

Check out Celebrity Mastermind tonight on BBC1 at 8.30pm. You'll never guess who's on! After his appearance this week on Question of Sport, Monty's agent has been busy. I so hope for Panesar that tonight's performance is not like one of his infamous dropped catches. Meanwhile, Dancing on Ice, Masterchef etc.. seem not to daunt Monty who keeps appearing on TV trying so hard to find a new role in his life. What happens when all the celebrity shows have been covered? What happens to him then?

The NEW 2019 Wisden is out in April but if you take out an annual direct debit and subscribe the price is £25. Here are the details. www.bloomsbury.com/uk/subscription/wisden-cricketers-almanack-subscription/Wisden also have a website which hosts a blog. One of the better features I have read in recent times was this one by Martin Crowe who tragically died in 2016, at the young age of 53. After retiring as a player he became a leading writer on cricket, exploring in particular, the unique demands of his profession. This article is about the mental side of the game and the best ways to cope. wisdenblog.wordpress.com/2018/01/02/mind-matters/

Monty’s appearance on Celebrity Mastermind was embarrassing to watch, he wasn’t much better on Question of Sport. His agent is going to have a very hard time to find a role for him. All very sad.

I could not agree more. After a bearable start getting 6 questions correct with his specialist subject, two beneath the next lowest score, Monty's grasp of general knowledge was embarrassing, gaining just one point. Some of his answers were borderline insane. His final tally of 7 points was 7 below the next lowest. Monty needs to go back to the drawing-board and think of something else to do. He has humiliated himself once too often on celebrity TV shows. Check out Monty's performance below. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0by9z5z/celebrity-mastermind-20182019-episode-10

I am not sure what this present verdict from the rape trial concerning the former Worcestershire CCC cricketer says. Alex Hepburn's life has been destroyed by the allegations alongside a sporting career that's in tatters, whilst the woman who made the rape allegation has been through Hell. Let us hope the retrial finds the true and correct conclusion. Alex Hepburnwww.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-46828643

Yes, that crossed my mind too, although I don't think Monty would survive more than a few days in the jungle.

I note others are questioning the merits of Sir Alastair Cook starting a new career within the cricketing media. Some interesting comments in the below post/talking about section.

They were criticising Spurs for not signing any players during the summer and they are doing very well. I still believe we will sign an Australian as our overseas player, for the first half of the season. Possible Smith, who will need the practise before the Ashes series starts
