So, what is stopping Sussex from re-signing him for the rest of the Vitality Blast or... Not in the budget.

Interesting to compare Rashid Khan's T20 Vitality Blast 2019 bowling figures for Sussex CCC with 2018.
2018
11 matches - 17 wickets - 244 runs - 14.35 average.
2019
9 matches - 7 wickets - 237 runs - 33.86 average.
Quite a difference. It appears Khan's calamitous World Cup has dented his X Factor aura.
After Eoin Morgan's swashbuckling performance against him, not only are batsmen not afraid of Khan anymore, but his mystique has disappeared.
Imho, Beer is now a better choice and Sussex won't miss Khan nearly as much as last season.

You've gotta feel sorry for the guy.
He was experiencing one of his best spells of bowling in his T20 career and then lo and behold, yet another injury strikes. Are we surprised? Of course not, but there can't be many sports people out there who experience the depths of frustration that Tymal does.
Fortunately, Sussex CCC have cover, but will there be more pressure on Reece Topley now to play consistently in the Vitality Blast rather than his present one on, one off, game plan.

Here is the Lord's luncheon menu for the cricketers today including a classic Sunday roast with all the vegetable trimmings. With a potential three-course cordon bleu meal on offer, how on earth are they able to play afterwards without getting indigestion?

Pretty much sums up Archer's inaugural Test.
Q: Where has Jofra discovered his extra speed? Does anyone remember such venom when playing for Sussex?

Not only is Archer a cricketing world sensation, but he has a fun sense of humour too.

Brenda is very upset at the match. News has just come through that Mark Robinson has been sacked as England Women’s Cricket Coach. I haven’t seen her so distressed and animated since Chris Adams left the Club.
Now that’s what I call a true blue Martlet Sussex supporter.

I'm surprised Brenda didn't adopt her normal even-handed, objective and enlightened view of cricketing matters. Never seen her with rose coloured specs.

The Sussex CCC Museum's latest publishing venture is another record breakers pamphlet to add to their already burgeoning series. Entitled, 'Highest Individual Innings For Sussex in One-Day Cricket (List A)', it hails and records not one but the two highest Club scores achieved in OD cricket which both occurred this season. You've gotta feel sorry for Luke Wright. On April 27th against Middlesex at the Home of Cricket he whacked 166 runs, a new Club record and then five days later along comes David Wiese and thrashes 171 at the Ageas Bowl to beat Wright's record by 5 runs. It's all high fives with this one! Two remarkable feats, two great cricketers. The eight page pamphlet is researched by Museum archivist, Norman Epps, and compiled by volunteer, patron and photographer Phil Barnes. It sells for a mere £5 and is limited to just 60 copies. This particular pamphlet is now the 6th in the Museum's excellent record-breaking series and well worth the purchase. All have original signatures on their front page from the players highlighted. It can be bought via the Museum during home match days or from Nicholas Sharp at: sharp554@btinternet.com

Jofra Archer will be a rarity at Hove next season given the suffocating number of England matches. Goodness knows how 'The 100' fits in to all of this. Too much cricket driven by ECB greed? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/49421395

There are moments when I feel a little guilty showing up Monty Panesar's attempts to keep himself in the public eye. If only he had the talent and ability to shine. But surely, there comes a time when even Monty must realise he needs to discover another line of work. The latest update on his Panesar's Channel is... he's changed the name to Monty's Channel and is now doing a Take 2 by following the Test at Headingley after some of his rather bizarre 'unique insights' from Lord's. I know, I know, I should be kinder, but if you want a smile during the next 5 days, follow Monty's Channel. twitter.com/MontyChannel

Meeting new people at the Hove county cricket ground is part of the fun supporting Sussex and on Thursday evening I was introduced to a couple who had just flown all the way over from Canada for a whirlwind 20 day tour of Britain, starting with a trip to a cricket match on the South Coast. Paul and Wendy Harvey hail from Trail, British Columbia, and were mightily impressed with the sell-out crowd at Hove. “This is the first cricket we’ve ever seen. We had no idea the sport was so big over here,” said Wendy. “The crowd is certainly larger than at our local baseball ground.” Paul then enthused, “When we approached the main gate to pick up our tickets, everyone was so friendly and animated by the impending match.” “And we love the British accent,” interjected a smiling Wendy. “And as for your police cars. Their flashing lights are so much more colourful and varied than ours back home.” Meanwhile, one forgets how complex cricket is when attempting to explain the rules to those who are new to the sport, where baseball is the closest ally. So, a six becomes a home run, but after that… it gets a bit tricky. The Harvey’s were particular attracted to the SKY flame-throwers after each four or six and spent many attempts photographing them so all three in-front of their seat would be captured at once. “They will love this back home”, said the bubbly Wendy after successfully achieving their goal. She also pointed out that in Canada the phrase, “That’s not cricket” is regularly used in every day conversation, so was delighted this sentence now made some sense. After another mighty six was whacked by Wiese, Paul said, “Cricket is definitely more exciting than baseball.” Yet, explaining the different formats of the sport didn’t seem viable at the time. The Harvey’s are visiting the Brighton sights today and then it’s on to Wales, Ireland and Scotland before dropping down to Redcar and finally Peterborough before returning to Gatwick Airport. Lovely people and their experience at Hove will, hopefully, be a treasured memory of their British trip.

Those flame throwers at T20 matches: are they ecologically sound? I've no idea, but I instinctively worry about such wanton and unnecessary burning of fuel.
