Fb, When you dig in to this story more deeply, Kumar is the only one to blame. For apart from his rants about Brexit the Daily Mail writes, "The booing started when he shared his scathing views of Boris Johnson and then on imperial British rule. Video footage from the event, shared on social media, showed the extent of the heckling... Kumar reacted defiantly and told the audience he was going nowhere apparently implying the audience were 'thick' for not sharing his views." To add flavour, Kumar, promoted to the £149 a head luncheon audience as "undoubtedly the UK's hottest comedian", has a past and is no stranger to controversy. Earlier this year he said on the radio 'the architects of Brexit are a cocktail of lying racists and buffoons'. And last December he gave a platform on his BBC 2 late-night satirical news show The Mash Report to Steve Topple, a left-wing journalist who promotes antisemitic conspiracy theories. So, to repeat my question, why on earth did they invite such an inappropriate speaker??

Maybe there aren't many similar comedians who will do so?

5 Sussex players picked out of 10 (including already drafted David Wiese). Not at all shoddy. In total 14 English players were chosen today.
Meanwhile, you have gotta admire Tymal Mills determination to keep going until his next injury and the T20 Franchises keep supporting him too.
Jason Roy ✅ Moeen Ali ✅ Alex Hales ✅ Tom Banton ✅ Chris Jordan ✅ Ravi Bopara ✅ Samit Patel ✅ Liam Dawson ✅ James Vince ✅ Phil Salt ✅ Tymal Mills ✅ Dan Lawrence ✅ Liam Livingstone ✅ Liam Plunkett ✅

Oh dear me.....The Daily Mail.......that well known bastion of balanced reporting. According to the original article, the Taverners could not be reached for comment. How convenient, perhaps it would not support the obvious newspaper agenda. In the circumstances, it is strange that the relevant Lord's Taverners statement was widely reported in numerous other news outlets. For the sake of balance, their statement included the following: "We are not, and never will be, a political organisation and we don't endorse the views of the guest speakers at our events, which are their own. However, nor do we endorse the reaction of a minority of audience members at yesterday's event". What a shame that the wonderful charitable work of this organisation can be overshadowed and embarrassed in this way. Fairly obvious that in some quarters this type of boorish behaviour will be received with glee. Excuse me for not joining in with a round of applause. "Gentlemen behaving badly" (Gentlemen???....what a massive misnomer.)

Fb, It is interesting how the Daily Mail always gets the criticism when in fact the Sun newspaper is the most right-wing of the papers and gains the highest sales of all with close to 1.4m daily (click on links below for the charts). The Daily Mail is second with 1.2m. On the other hand, the leading left of centre publication, the Daily Mirror, attains 403,000 (6th) and the poor old Guardian (rumours are it is close to bankruptcy) comes in last with just 134,000 (sales continue to decline). Perhaps, the primary reason why the Mail gains such schtuck is because of its huge online success. It is the most read online paper in the Western world (based on page views) with a monthly 340m PVs (October '19) or an average of 11.3m per day. www.statista.com/statistics/529060/uk-newspaper-market-by-circulation/www.similarweb.com/website/dailymail.co.uk

The Daily Fail is criticised for its content, not because it's popular. Within the past 12 months, the owners had to replace the editor because advertisers were bailing out because of the paper's hate content.

Fb, Much of the problem was the stance that former Mail editor, Paul Dacre, took on Brexit. He was a hard-line supporter and so upset the Remain establishment. Agreed, his front page stories about immigrants etc. were over the top, but the idea that advertisers left in their droves is a misnomer. The only big advertiser to leave was the toy company Lego. The Remain Establishment's bete noirDacre’s disdain for the Remain establishment, exacerbated by David Cameron's attempt to have him fired in 2016 due to his Brexit views, led to the infamous Enemies of the People front page which was the final straw and huge pressure was placed on the paper’s proprietor Lord Rothermere to dismiss Dacre. Unfortunately for them, Rothermere had a huge respect for his editor once describing him as ‘Quite simply, the greatest newspaper editor of all time.” Under Dacre the Daily Mail won the "Newspaper of the Year" category on six occasions, twice as often as any other title. After the Enemies of the People headline it was downhill for Dacre, although he couldn’t resist another dig at the establishment, particularly the Remain element of the House of Lords, brandishing the memorable headline Crush the Saboteurs in late 2017. Dacre was also responsible for coining the name “Remoaners”. After stepping down in November 2018 after 26 years at the helm, the new editor’s role, appointed by Rothermere, was to sanitise the paper’s hardline Brexit approach and since then it’s primary purpose is to support the Conservative Prime Minister whilst leaving all that 'other stuff' up to the Daily Express and The Sun. As for Lord Rothermere it was a case of “don’t bite the hand that feeds” where Dacre had to be sacrificed. Even so, he was immediately appointed Chairman and editor-in-chief of Associated Newspapers, so his influence still reigns over Rothermere’s publishing empire. I read the Mail Online a lot, perhaps, the best FREE online news publication in the world. I focus primarily on the sport sections where their coverage of cricket is excellent and isn't so "up your bottom" unlike the Paywalled Telegraph or Times.

Cricketers often have a double life behind the scenes. Jack Russell and his painting is a typical example. And so we come to Mark Butcher whom behind the SKY mic is a talented musician who writes and sings his own songs and has been doing so for many years. Butcher has a new album out comprising of 13 tracks. I can think of various bands with songs in the charts who don't have the same ability as Butcher. Well worth a purchase, imho. www.markbutchermusic.com

Another fantastic coup for Sussex CCC. Since Rob Andrew was appointed Club CEO, women's cricket and the Hove County Ground have become like two peas in a pod. A hearty well done. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/50738533This is a terrible shame - I'd much rather watch cricket. Sorry, Sussex, but I hope the whole bloody tournament is a gigantic flop. BTW, is there going to be any Womens T20 in the domestic calendar?

They did say that 2019 was the last Kia Super League competition. I expect county level will continue, but maybe not at Hove.
