I know that one actual truth is that these are the worst bushfires since 1974, when they were much worse.
BC obviously doesn't mean bull crap does it, that wouldn't be a racial slur you plumb. I'd assume a whitey getting called a WC would get the same amount of attention. Never heard of it happening anywhere though, personally. Not good. It ain't a lot of things and it certainly ain't cricket.
Truro - it's small and white but it's very liberal. Was when I was last there anyway, in 1623. Plymouth?

Here's an interesting factoid. Who hold the most British knighthoods? Footballers or cricketers?

Forget KP, Gower, Smith, Warne, Lillee, Sobers, Lara, even Botham, Ben Stokes is a once in a lifetime cricketer not seen since Sir Donald Bradman. And make that Sir Ben Stokes when the time is right and fitting.

There are times when I still pinch myself after realising the most exciting seamer in a generation plays for Sussex CCC.
A must watch.

Farewell to The Sussex Cricketer Pub
(Ember Inns Say Goodbye and Sussex CCC say Hello… Hello, Hello)____________________________________________________________________________ www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblYSKz_VnIFarewell The Sussex Cricketer Pub, the hostelry that was formerly a hotel, holds so many happy drinking and cricketing memories for supporters. Sunday, January 19th, at 6pm, Ember Inns shut the doors of this special watering hole that bears witness to so many past Club successes and events. As a farewell to customers, the pub is holding a party the previous evening and promising karaoke starting at 8pm. Live music, quizzes, Sussex players and staff, celebs… the pub has seen it all. Remember that ‘Meet The Players’’ event on November 9th, 2015? How special was that. unofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/post/14219/threadunofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/post/14222/threadOthers include, the farewell drinks ‘do’ for Jon Lewis after departing for the England U19s; Jason Gillespie getting to know the players; TV actor Robert Bathurst ( Cold Feet) cycling up to the front door, dismantling his mini-bike into a carrier-bag, before entering the pub for a drink and then on to a day of Sussex CCC cricket against the Australian touring team. And what about Delray Rawlins sitting down with some of the other youngsters for an evening drink espousing, no marvelling, at his best mate’s antics for England with that steely look of, “One day, I will be joining you Jof.” Yet, the pub’s closure is best summed up by the Beatles song You say Goodbye and I’ll Say Hello. Ember Inns may be departing, but Sussex CCC will then take it over for the rest of the year until October, when it will be demolished for the new apartment block. That is so long as the planning application is approved in February. Imagine the money the Club can take during the 2020 season. Due to a cock-up back in 2015, Ember Inns were unintentionally offered 5 more years on the lease and jumped at the opportunity. Who could blame them. When the pub and garden heave with people before the start of a home T20, it reminds one of the London underground during rush-hour. So, when one door shuts another opens, this time at the same venue. See you on re-opening night.

Are we surprised? Jofra Archer is a physical human being not a bionic automaton.

Only his second proper score from 10 starts and the Strikers bowlers had restricted the Heat to 100 all out so he had license to go out and hit. He remains very inconsistent but it’s all good experience for him which can only be good for Sussex.

Joe, I take your point, but batting will always be hit and miss in a T20 competition where few batsmen are able to achieve consistent scores. There are 4 games left in the first part of the tournament and apart from the Melbourne Stars who are running away with the qualification round, there are 4 other spots up for grabs for the next part where the teams are tightly bunched. The Adelaide Strikers require a minimum of two more wins to assure qualification and Phil Salt needs another two high scores to cement his position. All to play for, at present. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–20_Big_Bash_League_seasonPS: Their next match is away to the Hobart Hurricanes on the 19th.

Another win for the Adelaide Strikers that helps them reaching the next round in the BBL09 all the more certain. Whilst Phil Salt made another average score of just 13 from 9 balls, the star of the batting was Captain Travis Head who struck 79 (40) supported by Jonathan Wells (45* off 35) and Matt Short (33 from 20). After the Strikers reached the competitive score of 185-5 from 20 overs, opponents Hobart Hurricanes looked at one stage to pass the total with the star of their batting, David Miller, thrashing 90* from 48 balls. But his performance wasn't enough as Wes Agar came good with 4-33. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan had a poor match (0-40 from 4 overs). The Strikers won by 10 runs and now stand 2nd in the BBL table with 3 qualifying games to go. live.bigbash.com.au/match/2404/46338/hobart-hurricanes-men-vs-adelaide-strikers-men-kfc-bbl-09/scorecardwww.espncricinfo.com/table/series/8044/season/2019/big-bash-league
