Each time we read about or watch Georgina Adams being interviewed, imagine the vicarious pleasure her father must gain. What a wonderful family success story.
Q: How many other former professional cricketers have a successful cricketing daughter?

Here is a question for you. How do you rate Luke Wright as a Captain? Imho, he is the best Sussex leader since Chris Adams and better than Mike Yardy, Ed Joyce and Ben Brown. Then it becomes more interesting. What about before Adams. Now compare Wright to Peter Moores, Wells, Parker, Gould, Barclay, Long until we reach the great Greigy. Can I dare to suggest that since 1973, the best three Sussex Captains have been Greig, Adams and Wright? Next question: How do you rate Captains? Purely, on results or the cultural influence and popularity on both the players and supporters? Sadly, I rate Brown as one of the weaker Captains during the last 50 years. Discuss. Sacked off after one season, wasn't he? Hardly a shout for a good captain. Given the one-day gig and won nothing, in a really strong side. I'd say he's about as good a captain as Gillespie is coach. Top player though, left the four day game too soon. It's a good question - what are you judging him on. What are you judging him on? Is it his unfathomable choice to constantly chase in T20 when our strength is to set and squeeze? I know you've commented about that a few times over the last couple of years. When you put everything together, there's f**k all there.

Off-PisteFor all supporters who live in or close to Brighton & Hove, don't forget the much anticipated 2 hour pilot drama GRACE, based on the Peter James books and characters, which airs this Sunday evening. In one of James' books (can't remember which one), the usual criminal psychopath abducts a woman right outside the Hove, Carlisle Road property I used to live in (I worked out the exact location... sad, eh?) Well worth a watch especially with the actors involved including LIFE ON MARS star, John Simm, who plays detective Roy Grace. ITV, Sunday 8pm.

It is quite harsh but I do wonder whether he intentionally broke Pollard’s stride so that Pollard couldn’t spin and run out the non-striker who was a long way down the wicket. I’m really not sure.

As I saw it, he started backing away from Pollard as soon as Pollard got close to him. He may have been trying to avoid a charge of obstruction! I’m unsure. Sticking his bat out at the oncoming Pollard was slightly dubious. Perhaps, I played too much squash to a decent standard as a younger man. I knew some players who knew how to cover a poor shot so that their opponent claimed a let rather than hitting a winner past them. Of course, I never stooped to such levels.

This incident shows up the bias behaviour of the Windies umpiring and in particular the 3rd umpire. Even if the facing batsman had somehow "flung himself away" from the ball, and the charging bull-like Pollard had picked up the ball and swung round (for such a big man, not easy at pace), the Sri Lanka batsman would have gained his ground, even if by some miracle the stumps then had been hit.
Terrible decision.
