Tough chase of 246 coming up against Notts. No Taylor or Brindle either, so that puts a lot of pressure on Elwiss, Adams and Scholfield, who I think I'm right in saying are our only other batters to have had an innings above club level this season.

Whilst they haven't had a hit this season Collis and Phelps have been selected for their batting. Chiara used to open the batting for the Under 17s. Sussex 57-0 off 12 overs when the rain came.

Yes, it wasn't going to be just down to them, but they were elevated to senior players in a stiff chase. As it was they were well on course. Thanks to the points system the rain actually leaves us better placed than if we'd won, in the short term at least, because it voids the dropping of the two bowling points. From a cricketing point of view it's sad, and that's now a quarter of the season rained off, although they might rearrange for another time.

Another win in the county championship against Yorkshire, chasing down 200 with about 5 overs to go and 6 wickets in hand. Georgia Adams found herself captain of a very young side, with everyone except Alexia Walker under the age of 21, and she took responsibility to score her first senior hundred.
That leaves Sussex still on maximum points, with next week's match at Arundel against Kent looking increasingly like a title decider.

Just wondered - does this thread have to be about cricketers?

Don't know. Is the "Players" forum just for cricketers? Is the "General Cricket Chat" forum for discussion of cricket, or about a senior military officer with the unusual name of Cricket Chat? These are unanswerable philosophical questions. The only thing to do is to listen to your heart.

All I did was Google "Sussex women" - I seem to have wandered onto a cricket forum by mistake . . .
