Some strange stuff going down at Kent which Sussex may be able to exploit tomorrow night: well-connected Kent supporters claiming that Kent has had to borrow money from the ECB to stave off bankruptcy and as a result the club has been formally banned by the ECB from signing an overseas player.
I find it hard to believe that the ECB can dictate such terms over how Kent spends its playing budget. But Kent will be further destabilised by the uncertainty over Key "taking a few weeks away from the game" to consider his future.
The main threat to Sussex remains Stevens, who so far this season hasn't quite fired but sooner or later will explode back into life and turn a match or two. One of the best white-ball games I ever saw was at Canterbury two seasons ago, when Luke Wright hit a century in 54 balls and then Stevens bettered it with a century in 44 balls...

Finch and Piolet miss out. Kent won the toss and will bat, which may well be crucial - the side batting first has won ten of the last 11 T20s at Canterbury, and the average score for the team batting first is 175.
You don't see 175 chased down very often, so I'd say Sussex need to keep them down to 160 to have a chance.

Team's fair enough, bit surprised Piolet didn't get a gig after last season's T20 - long time ago I guess. Who the hell is Denagamage Jayawardene and what has he done with Mehela? Has anyone looked at this chap closely? Without the helmet.
Beero starring, no surprise to this kid. Kent going at 10rpo though, slaaaaaaaaaaaags!

Good start to the innings for Sussex. Commentators seem to think that they should be in with a good chance of chasing this down. Would have liked to restrict Kent to about 15-20 fewer than that though. Only 3 wides when bowling which is also tight.

Well, f****d that right up by the looks of it, should have won from that position. Another bad start to this comp. Thankfully, it goes on and on and on. Need a bit of Shahzad and Mills I reckon.

No idea how they lost that. Sussex were coasting at 15 overs, with 44 needed from the last five with eight wickets in hand. Then only one boudary in the last five overs - it's T20 ferchrisakes!
Well played, Kent and even more creditable as they are the only county without an overseas player - I think they had eight Kent born and bred players in their XI. But you cannot help feeling that Sussex threw that away.
Sussex could have used Yardy's vast experience towards the end there as Cachopa, Machan , Brown and Beer scratched around and couldn't find the boundary. He knows all about dealing with Canterbury's slope ,which the likes of Cachopa and Machan do not, and would surely have been better placed to play the angles. Does anyone know why he didn't bat?
The middle order needs some more time with that baseball/bat swing coach...
