That's some nice work Moddy.
Here's my two cents worth, line up and order:
Wright Jayawardene Machan Cachopa Nash Brown Robinson Beer Yardy Piolet (presuming Shahzad ain't fit) Mills

Shahzad's pectoral will take "6 or 7" days to heal, so he certainly shouldn't be risked for either of the weekend's T20s.

Only four frontline bowlers there (if Piolet is a frontline bowler) with Yardy and Nash and possibly Wright making up the other four overs. There's not much margin for error there. I think Liddle will play in place of the out-of-form Cachopa who is struggling to hit it off the square let alone out of the park. That still leaves Robinson or Piolet at eight and Beer at nine and unless we're expecting to be bowled out in 20 overs, it really shouldn't get down to that...

There is Hudson-Prentice who took 3-23 against MCCYC who would add another batting option but that's about it! Anyway the best way to deal with Stevens is to get him out early!

I think Mills may be fit; hope so - he took three good wkts at Canterbury in the T20 for Essex last season. And I'd consider playing Magoffin, although you'd have to factor in the runs he might leak in the field against the four economical overs he'd deliver. Can Zaidi do a job with a white ball, bowling Yardy-like darts ?
I'd expect Kent to line up
Bell-Drummond Denly Northeast Blake Stevens Cowdrey Billings Coles Tredwell Riley Griffiths
with Ball or Haggett as an option if they want another seamer instead of Riley, who isn't on his best game this season. Key was Kent's top T20 batsman last season but has dropped himself from the current LVCC match and in his current form I doubt he'll return for the T20 game.

Yardy's bowling is so full time in this form you may as well put his name above the shop BM. I can't see Zaidi fitting in with Yardy, Beer and Nash as musts. The bowling line-up for this one may not frighten Stevens & Co, especially if Mills ain't fit but as CP says, what can you do without the crocked? We're light in bowling at full strength in my view but Shahzad and Mills go some way to addressing that. They're both new, who the hell did we have last year? An OS death bowler would help if we ain't playing Mags, per usual. If Liddle doesn't play, even at full strength, what the hell's he gonna do? Prior and an OS seamer would turn us into potential champs for me.

Sussex have announced a 13 man squad of : W Beer;BC Brown ;C Cachopa;HZ Finch;DMPD Jayawardena;CJ Liddle;MW Machan;SJ Magoffin;CD Nash;SA Piolet;OE Robinson;LJ Wright (c);MH Yardy
So of the more elderly players, Joyce has opted out (not unexpected after Wright was made white ball captain) but Magoffin is in.
In the absence of the two Mals (Aj and Ty), I think Magoffin's inclusion is a good decision.
Slightly surprised that Mr Zee doesn't even make the 13. Someone told me he suffered from very bad pre-match nerves, which has affected his performances. No idea if that's the reason but it's pretty obvious it has been concluded that he's one of Robinson's famous 'gambles' that didn't come up double six in the same way as Cachopa, Shahzad and Ollie-who-wears-his pants-outside-his tights. It seems foregone that his two year contract won't be renewed when it expires at the end of the season.
Not sure why Finch is included; when he was sent in as nightwatchman at Durham it was because he was said to be "obdurate". A virtue in the right circumstances; but not really a T20 quality, is it? Can't seem him playing. And one of the bowlers in that 13 is going to be wearing a yellow bib, as well. I'd leave out Liddle, but Robbo seems committed to him so it might be Piolet.
Kent have announced a 13 man squad of : Northeast, Bell-Drummond, Denly, Billings, Cowdrey, Stevens, Blake, Coles, Haggett, Griffiths, Tredwell, Ball, Claydon.
No return for Key, Nash dropped and Riley really is badly out of favour, as I was convinced that they would play both off-spinners. I'd expect Ball and Claydon to be left out of that squad.

It's a bit odd that Magoffin is in the T20 squad as he obviously rarely plays this format. That said I recall that he did play a few games last year so it isn't unheard of. Seems unlikely they would put him in the squad if they wanted to rest him. I think the logic is that if Shahzad and Mills get fit then he won't be needed in the T20's and can put his feet up on Friday nights.
With regards to Finch we have seen that he is a talented batsmen in the shorter formats as that innings against Glamorgan(?) in the Royal London Cup last season showed.
In my opinion the team will be (with this batting order): Jayawardene Wright Machan Cachopa Nash Brown Yardy Beer Robinson Magoffin Liddle
Though I wouldn't be surprised if Piolet took the place of Liddle or Magoffin.

By the way, any Sussex supporters going to this, here is the place to be after the match : www.shepherdneame.co.uk/pubs/canterbury/old-city-barI know this because I have this evening received an e-mail from Kent CCC which after the match invites all and sundry to : "Join Spitfires players at Kent Cricket’s official pub Old City Bar in Oaten Hill Place, ten minutes’ walk from The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence. Members of the squad will be in attendance on Friday after the opening T20 Blast fixture. Why not pop in after the match to enjoy a pint of Spitfire, Kent Cricket’s official beer?" I must say in this detestable age of 21st century new puritanism, that's my kind of old-fashioned county cricket team - one that not only has it's own "official beer" but even it's own "official pub". Who says couty cricket's boozy traditions are a thing of the past? Respect to Kent for the fact that the "Spitfires players" are under orders to head to a friendly pub rather than to the ghastly ice bath after the game...it's a welcome relaxation of attitude, given that two years ago Kent fined and suspended Matt Coles after he was reported for being in a bar at that time of night. (Matt responded by stomping off in disgust to join Hampshire... but thats another story). Still not sure whether to go to the match; I've got a ticket but it's been raining non-stop in the Weald for the last 12 hours, I'm not certaiin the notoriously unreliable Kent floodlights can be trusted to last out the evening and I' not keen on driving back the 58 miles from the cathedral city at 10.30pm - or even later if I take up the invitation to drink with "Sptifires players" in "Kent Cricket's official pub", of course ...

Yeah Finch scored a ton off 70 odd balls in that game didn't he BM/Nemmo? Worthy of a shot I reckon. I too can be obdurate or swash-buckling, one day I may score 5 off 25 the next 6 off 2, so it's doable.
